Medical need for extension on visitor visa

Hi.i had applied for my mothers visitor vusa extension on 6th august 2019.yestarday k got an email that they need medical of my mother.i have never heard about that medical requirement for extension.
Please help me if anyone knows why they require it and will they extend the visa?

It is quite typical. The medical is not optional.
