As I had mentioned before, admenments to the definition of social service of medical inadmissibility will be controversial, and if it is implemented immidiately , it will risk the politicians. That is why they start changing slowly in order to note consequences and assess what they should do in order to avoid risks of health system as well as political life!
Yup and they have updated excessive demand on their website.

This is my first post in this thread as I feel my case looks impacted with recent medical rules updates.

My 4 year old son is having delay development concern and is under going therapy. He underwent 2nd time medical review last year as suggested by cic. Now it’s over a year and sitting with pending application. Wanted to check if the new medical rules applicable in our case also ?
I am waiting for my GMCS notes for more insights.

Below is the timeline of my application.

Hey @SriTLIN Congrats!! thanks for sharing in detail, i also have VSD (Ventricular Septal Defect) which was 'fixed' when i was a baby but with the remaining medical history of mine, medical officers (as well as panel physician) did not care at all :D

Anyways, so happy for you, hope to hear good news from @Outworld soon.

Stay healthy people :) Have a great PPR journey
Dear fellas,

I urgently need your feasible help.
Can you please promt me and share your experience on answering Statutory question regarding serious disease and mental problems.
What I believe is that in my case being just HIV positive not AIDS means I don't have serious disease.
Still want to know your opinion and discussion.

HIV testing is mandatory. If you didn’t declare, they still discover after that. Then your decease stage will also be checked like viremia load, cd4... and they will ask you to go to a doctor in case you have not been treated.

Therefore, you must disclose everything and must have a low vírus load, with fair -price medication. Then you will be ok!

I know and I am going to disclose it to panel physician.
Now the question is whether I should answer "yes" to Statutory part question about having serious disease or mental problems

Hi Everyone,

i would like to disclose that, I have shared the below information earlier in a different thread, but considering this thread relevancy, i am sharing the same info here again, to provide a consolidated overview of all my details.

In Aug 2015, i have applied for a Canada Work Permit (thru my employer). During preliminary IME (immigration medical exam), I was diagnosed with abnormal heart beat/ sound and a suspected Mitral Valve Prolapse (MVP). After initial report submission to CIC/ IRCC, the CIC Medical visa officer suggested an additional review. As per IMO (Immigration Medical officer) direction and CIC suggested specialist doctor, I went through additional review and the specialist doctor confirmed mild mild Mitral valve Prolapse (MVP), and mild/ fair left systolic ventricle dysfunction (which did not require immediate attention). The specialist put me on beta blocker medication (metaprolol 25 mg) and gave me a clearance, and subsequently IMO has cleared my IME results. Later my Canada Work Permit was approved.

After arriving in Canada, I was following up with a Cardiac specialist doctor. My recently results were more alarming - I was diagnosed with Marfan Syndrome and a gene abnormality (the main cause of Marfan syndrome in first place) and was put on a different/ more medications - Losartin 25 MG and Bisoprolol 5 MG. My doctor told me, that i might require a surgery in future, but was not conclusive about the period when i would require the surgery intervention. I did not have any results/ report information in hand about it, since everything was covered by Provincial Insurance.

Recently in May 2018- when i went through the IME for EE PR processing, the IME Panel Physician (PP) doctor found that - my heart MVP has increased a bit more in comparison to previous 2015 Aug observations. I have disclosed my current daily medicines intake information in the IME application (at IME center) and submitted previous available specialist doctor reports (from 2015 Aug, since i did not have any current reports) to PP. The IME PP doctor has included the reports (i provided) to CIC on 14-May-2018.
I am happy to share with you all that- Today, i received an update in my EE application mentioning - "My IME results were cleared". There was no additional review required in my case. So i would encourage everyone to share relevant information available from previous examinations, so that it would help in faster processing of your applications.
I wish all the best to everyone, during their Canada Immigration (especially with the medical exam). .:)
Here all of us have medical conditions. And I would like to know what did you answer to the Statutory question about serious disease and mental condition?
Please help me out with this

Hi @Outworld,

Well, my condition was 'Mitral Valve Prolapse' which is a dominant heart condition in People affected due to Marfan syndrome. In my application - I answered to the statutory question as 'No', in regards to the serious medical condition history.
I am not really sure, if we have to list HIV Positive as a serious medical condition (since IRCC didn't mention any diseases list under serious medical conditions category). But, if an individual is being hospitalized or treated extensively so that his condition doesn't worsen. I would suggest to declare the information in the application.
My suggestion would be to answer as 'Yes', and mention the details in LOE (this serves as an overall summary information of your application). However, the detailed facts will be covered in the Immigration Medical Exam report and the medical decision of your application will only be relied on the Medical VISA officer; and wouldn't impact other categories of your application.

Thanks for your reply!
I personally believe this section about serious disease apply to the emergencies such as myocardial infarction or may be stroke or may be worsening of HIV to AIDs.
Mitral prolapse is also a chronic condition which requires either surgery or nothing depending on the degree of prolapse and mitral regurgitation.
I will do as you did I will answer no and disclose my HIV status to the panel physician.
Just I need some help from you to better understand the process. During medical exam did panel physiscian ask you about having chronic illnesses? Or you informed him in advance? Did you have reference from your actual physician to represent it to panel physician?

For the question- "Have you had any serious disease or physical or mental disorder?"
I leave it to your wise decision.

During Immigration Medical Exam appointment with Panel Physician, before seeing the doctor i was asked to fill in the standard immigration medical forms, and was asked to disclose my pre and current medical conditions and any prescription medications intake. I have mentioned everything in there (first diagnosis during Oct 2015, previous and current medications and my current reference doctor details in Canada).
And when i met the doctor, i explained him my health condition and shared the physician reports from earlier diagnosis (I couldn't produce any reports for my diagnosis in Canada, since everything is covered by Provincial Healthcare program, and i did not have any reports in hand, but i have provided my current physician details for reference). Usually Immigration Medical Officer's does go through the provincial health care databases to look into details.

That's it. The Panel Physician was very kind and told me i am in good health except the heart MVP diagnosis, and he will get back to me in case of any further review or tests from my end.
Few days later, I went back to the hospital to inquire if there was anything needed; and got to know that all the test results were good and forwarded to IRCC

Thanks for your meticulous information.
So basically after accepting ITA you are introduced medical forms to fill where you can fill in info regarding your disease and medications you are taking, is that correct?
I can obtain reference from my physician should I do it in advance before arranging appointment and meeting to panel physician? Or should I wait for panel physician to ask for reference? Because I am outside of Canada there is no universal database for patients in my country; therefore, I believe it is me who should obtain and provide reference from my infectionist.

Yes, I filled in the medical forms at the Panel Physicians centre (provided by them).

You can check with a specialist and get additional/ substantial information about your case (before appearing for the medical exam) and submit the same to PP during IME, that should help in faster processing of the application (at least the medical evaluation part of the application); and may be in some cases - additional review by another doctor may not be required.
I am not aware of doctor and investigation costs at your place, if it financial burden is not much then i would strongly suggest you the above approach, or else may be wait for additional review by the immigration preferred specialist doctor.
I am not into medical field, but In earlier post, i remember you were mentioning - your CD4 cell levels are close 500 with low viral load and on continuous antiretroviral medications. So you should be fine with the medications i believe. Good luck my friend.

Only information? Or reference as well in advance?
Actually I am medical doctor myself.
Yup my CD4 level was close to 500 (460). And viral load below 400 cp/ml
