So I just received a letter saying I have to undergo further medical tests. I'm trying not to freak tf out, but its hard. I understand a lot of parent's applications get furtherance requests because they have a higher bar to pass for medicals, but I haven't seen many inlanders get one...which is making my brain think there's something seriously wrong...

Any inlanders here got a furtherance letter? I guess I'm just looking for reassurance, like...what could they have possibly found that they'd want to investigate?

Thanks...

Being inland has zero to do with it. Any applicant who has issues indicating potential medical inadmissibility gets a furtherance request.

But if you're an inland spousal applicant, the bar for a futherance is pretty substantial - isn't it basically "poses a public health risk"?

For refusal, yes. For a furtherance, no. If the applicant has indications of a public health risk, i.e. TB, they will still receive a furtherance request. If they test positive for such a condition, the app will be put on hold and they will have to undergo treatment before being approved.

And to add to the above, if the applicant refused treatment and therefore remained a public health risk, the app would be refused.

I've had a TB vaccine, does that have any physiological effect on the lungs? I'm worried they've found something on the xray and if it' not TB, then my mind immediately goes to the Big C...

Phone the panel physician's office. It's your health information, you have a right to know.

They may require you to go into the office, I suppose.

Dont stress. If it was something potentially serious that required immediate review, the doctor would have contacted you directly.

Not 100% on that. Last week I happened to be looking over my medical form and noticed that my contact number is totally wrong. Never noticed when I was doing the medical.

Well, then yes, it is possible that it could be something more serious and they have tried to make contact with you. A good reminder to verify your information on any form as soon as you get it. Contact the office ASAP.

Yes indeed, I was dumb.

However, i just got off the phone with the dr office. They found something on the chest x-ray and want me to do another one as well as sputum tests. As I've already had a tuberculosis vaccine, I'm concerned about what else it could be. Spots on lungs ain't good, eh?

Edit: This keeps getting better and better. Doctor called me back - they found something on the lung (an "opacity") but apparently the radiologist said there was "no other sign of active TB"
Fuuuuuuuuuck
