Hi everyone! I have a question for anyone who has ever had their application approved even when their medical had already expired. How long was your medical extended for?

Not happened to me personally, but I (amongst others) maintain the UK spousal sponsorship tracking spreadsheet. As you know, under the old pack, you needed an up-front medical. A medical is considered valid for one year. BUT, it often took London VO nearly or more than one year to make a decision - hence the 'problem'.

What London would often do is to automatically extend the medical (i.e. you didn't and couldn't request it). The time period they used is not known, but it did not seem to be a 'standard' number of months that anyone could determine.

Bottom line as that most people in this situation either got a request for a new medical OR had the expiry date on the CoPR extended more than 1 year from the date of the medical - generally allowing several weeks from the despatch of the CoPR to the CoPR expiry date (in the region of 2 or 3 months). Enough to at least be able to plan and execute a 'flagpole trip' to take the pressure of the 'landing as settler' trip!
