I'm just curious as to what the medical exam consists of. I'm guessing blood tests / blood pressure / past medical history, but is there anything else? How comprehensive is it?

Cheers.

I got mine done in CT, and it cost me $400! $350 for the exam and $50 for the xray. I saw something on one of these threads that doing it in Canada is cheaper. Wish I knew that information before i paid so much!

It was a pretty easy exam. didn't take long at all. Kind of like a general physical. blood pressure, heart, lungs, reflexes, blood and urine samples. then they do a chest xray to rule out TB.

It cost me about $240 all together with extra tests done for double-checking procedures. Got it done in Toronto, Ontario. If you get the list of certified panel physicians from the CIC website you can just call up each office and ask how much it'll be, then go to the most reasonable one.

Lyndon Mascarenhas in Toronto, 250 CAD (cash) the medical check like 5 minutes and the rest is waiting for the x rays, blood work and urine.

I just did mine on the 8th in Calgary... more waiting around than actual time for it. Costs for me were $225.00 medical, $39 blood and urine, $50 chest xray. The medical I sat in the exam room waiting and listening to the practitioner having a personal conversation with her desk person about her boyfriend than time spent examining me. She checked my lungs, heart, poked my stomach, then asked me if I had a bunch of things such as TB, HIV, etc. All the big stuff. That really was it. Oh and I stood on a machine that checked my height, weight and blood pressure. Other tests are self explanatory. All easy peasy, and she said that if there were red flags she would contact me within a week otherwise I can assume that it has been sent on. That was good to know even though I am not expecting red flags (though I think I dropped some tap water in the urine sample so it could have contaminated it and I might have to do it again!! I hope not... so stupid!) So yes all very expensive for a whole lot of not much. My stack of papers is ready to mail out now, I am just waiting for the week to swing by since the medical just in case then will pop it in the post!

My husband had his done in Costa Rica. He didn't need urine, only bloodwork and chest X-ray. Everything had to be done through private doctors. The doctor himself charged $50, x ray was $92, bloodwork was another $85 I think, and then the doctor charged us another $75 when he was all ready to send the paperwork in, to cover some sort of fees that the embassy charges or something. I was skeptical about that but what can you do, right? It never said anywhere that there is a charge for sending the medical in. I guess it could be the cost of mailing but it seems pretty steep.

Medicals consist of chext x-ray, physical exam(HEENT, reflexes, etc) and blood tests for HIV and syphillis. There is a Section A form which you are asked to complete during the appointment. Depending on past medical history more tests could be requested. e.g. someone with tattoos or piercings (other than their ears), likely will be asked to do Hepatitis test; heart problems, they may be asked to do an ECG or Echo, or they could be referred to a specialist for their opinion, etc before the medicals are sent in.

My Medical exam was $400 in Colorado.

Consisted of Blood work, Chest X-ray, blood pressure, and urine sample.

Relatively simple and straight forward.

It absolutely was... I don't know how there is such a wait to achieve so little... but in saying that there were 3 cancelled appointments i knew of around mine and not a single person in sight of the waiting room.
