Can you make a trip up to Canada for the appointment by chance??

I just scheduled mine today, and it's $180 CAN. I'm taking a trip up there this July to get married and file the applications, so I booked the appointment that same week. Hopefully it all goes as planned!

Best of luck to you!

I'm glad I'm not the only one having to go through all of this.... I know it's not fun, but will be worth the aggravation in the end.

I was not able to get my HMO to cover any part of the exam, even though I was due for a yearly exam... The DMP doesn't bill the HMO...

That part is out of the way and the results should have already made their way to Mississagua by now :)
We received the last bit of paperwork to complete our application yesterday, so the whole package will be sent out today! I'll be sure to post when we actually get an answer.

Seems all we can do is shop around for the best price as far as the exam goes... It's nice to put all of the paperwork behind us though... If all goes well I'm hoping to make the big move before the holidays... But in the end, having to go through this long distance relationship has only made us that much stronger. This whole process started nearly 18 months ago and we are now just sending out the paper work and all of the proof.

I never would have guessed that this whole process would take so long...

I wish you all the best!

The suggested price in Canada is only $150 CAD.
Wow we just had my husband's medical done in Edmonton Alberta and we had to pay $335 and the DMP didn't give us a paper to include w/ our application. Also they told us to get more passport photos than were necessary so we spent an extra $40 there.
Hi, I've had my medical done in Edmonton too, I paid $338 and I was told to bring only 3 photos. DMP did not give me any paper either but what I understood is if you are applying inland, you do not include IMM 1017 with your applications as document checklist said "Proof of medical examination" which did not mention about IMM 1017. I checked outland document checklist and it said "Proof of medical examination for...(original copy 2 of form IMM 1017 signed by the examining doctor)".
But I started wondering... am I right? (I am going to apply inland, and I will just include all of receipts from medical exam with my applications as a proof of medical.)

Just to give you an idea, I called the closest Dr. to me (Atlanta, GA), and they charge $390 for the full exam and that price includes them mailing it to CIC for you.

I just sent in our receipts too, the office said we did not need the IMM 1017 but people on the forum said we needed it, that was why I questioned it. I'm glad there are other people in the same situation. Oh and they told us to bring 6 photos, I have no idea why.

Hello,
we were told in the medical office that all the fees for medical exam are refundable. We just need to send the payment receipt to the office responsible for the immigration. Is that really true?
thank you

I am from Indianapolis, Indiana and I traveled to Chicago to for my DMP. There is no DMP in Indiana. I called the following DMP's in the midwest USA:
Serafin Veramendi (Chicago), Boguslaw Chimiel (Chicago), James Lutz (Cincinnatti), Virginia Loewenstine (Cincinnatti) and Swafti Daftary (Louisville). The cheapest one that I found out of those choices was Serafin Veramendi in Chicago. My cost was $255.00 total (165 for exam + 90 xray). Of the other 4 that I called they cost 100-150 more.
Thanks for posting this information – very helpful. I have a couple of additional questions for you, though. Were you satisfied with Serafin Veramendi’s service? Did he send out your results in a timely manner or did you have to call his office and to remind him to do it? I’ve read on some other forums that sometimes people have this type of problems. Did he give you some kind of proof that you took the examination?

Could you also let me know what happened next? Did the office in Canada send you a confirmation that they’ve received the results? If yes, how long did it take them? (from the time you took the exam or from the time the doctor sent it)

Thanks a lot!

nmark, I can answer a couple of your questions. I just saw Dr. Veramendi, you should see my thread on my experience (It says "Dr. Veramendi - Evanston/Chicago, IL".

He gave me his e-mail address to check up on the status of my exam to ensure it was sent out and arrived in Canada. Very helpful if you ask me! He did give me the required form I needed with my application as well as receipt of payment. The only flaw is having to drive about 50 miles west to get the xrays done. But it was all very affordable considering.

Portland Oregon was NOT cheap. Almost $550 for one adult (includes teenagers) and I had 5 people total to take, totalled $2200. Ouch.

Hi,

I just had scheduled with DMP in Richmond Hill the other day for medical exam. The assistance took the phone and told the total fee would be CAN $ 185 in cash (all including: general examination (CAN$ 150), service fee (CAN $35). I think that is reasonable. She also told me the total time for this would be just about half an hour (not sure if that fast and if they have already included the chest X-ray or not), and she also remind me to bring 4 passport sized photos (not 5). This is exactly as what I read on the application guide. The CIC website instructed us very clear, we should have not asked them to do better.

Good luck to all

My husband had to travel 2 hours to the only DMP in the state of Arizona.. so unfortunately he wasn't able to shop around. He paid $500, which pains me when I see what other people paid. The doctor was really helpful though, he offered to look over our application to ensure it's completion and mail it to CIC for us, which we declined because I wanted to send it myself cuz I'm a control freak like that.

I hope that medicals in Calgary are much cheaper, because he's probably going to have to redo them :'(
