Hello,

My wife is applying family class PR inland.

My wife called to get her medical exam from the panel physician list. The doctor's office said that we need to send in the PR application FIRST before they do the medicals. Is this true? I thought we had to send in the medical results WITH the PR application when we send it in.

Thanks.

Unless things have changed since last summer I did mine before I sent in my package and sent the receipt in with the immigration package.

Yes it's WITH. Make sure they know it's an inland application.

So what needs to be sent in with the PR application exactly? They give us a bar code receipt or something?

To become permanent residents, you and all your dependent children must complete a medical examination.

If your dependent child is a minor of whom you have joint or sole custody, that child is considered a dependant. The child will have to undergo a medical examination even if he lives with the other parent and will not be joining you in Canada.

Important information. Family members who are Canadian citizens or permanent residents do not need to pass a medical examination.

Note: If you had already completed an immigration medical examination, you must provide proof. Depending on how long ago the examination was completed, you may have to do it again. CIC will advise you if a new medical examination is required.
Medical instructions

You may either:

undergo an upfront medical examination by contacting a Panel Physician or
wait until your application is reviewed and medical instructions are provided to you by the immigration office.
Get the instructions to complete the medical examination.

Note: When medical results are submitted up-front, routine cases benefit from faster processing since we do not have to request them at a later date. If you choose to have an upfront medical exam, you must submit proof that you completed the medical examination with your application. Failure to do so may result in processing delays.

They should send the originals (if you are in Canada, not sure outland) in for you. All you need is the corresponding receipt with the same numbers on it. They will give this to you at the doctor. Just put that receipt in the package. I would look and see if there is another doctor available to do this if they are unwilling. You always have the choice to take your business elsewhere.

Sorry to revive a dead thread but I am super confused on the medical exam now

My wife went and got her medical exam done but they did not give her the report upfront. Instead they gave her a print off the eMedical webpage and told her that her report would be waiting at the embassy and once the CIC requested the report it would be sent?

From doing searches ont he forum it looks like some people got their reports right away, some got a piece of paper with a barcode on it but I could not find anyone with the same circumstances as ours?

Rattles has suggested that they (the doctor's office) send it in for you, for "inland". I can confirm that for "outland" they also send it in for you. You don't get the report personally, just the receipt that you include with your application.
