When you "flag-poll", the United States of America do not actually grant you admission to the USA, they allow you to turn back to Canada. That's my logic behind it :) I hope it can help you!

I agree. I didn’t include any flag polls because I never entered the US. They actually give you a slip of paper saying you were rejected admission and you give that to Canadian border control to start processing your visa. That’s my experience from the four times I’ve done it anyway.

Yes but it would still count as an entry to Canada. Canada doesn't track exits but tracks entries.

Hi everyone,

A quick question before I submit my citizenship application: for the physical presence online calculator, do they count each day of absence before acquiring PR as only 0.5 days? I've noticed a lot of my time away is halved, since 1 day of presence = 0.5 days for the calculation. Thanks!

So would this impact my application at all do you think? Thanks

Days of absence from Canada are counted as 0 days.

"each day you were physically present in Canada as an authorized temporary resident or protected person before you became a permanent resident counts as half a day (up to a maximum of 365 days);"

No, if they ask just explain that it was a misunderstanding. If you haven't sent your application add it.

Many people forget to add a trip, but if adding it doesn't being the number of days below the minimum then its fine. If one misses too many then it can trigger an RQ.

Thanks! It’s sent now so I’ll see how it goes. It shouldn’t influence things much I think because I’m comfortably over the required days. Will see if it gets raised at all.
