Does anyone know if the VOs work on the weekends? Trying to determine if I should continue to spastically check ECAS, lol...

I think oversea offices are closed on weekends and statutory holidays days in Canada, however the ecas can be updated on weekend

I have seen many people's ecas change to DM over the weekend

They sometimes updates the website over the weekend but ecas is not the accurate source of information if your application is linked to "my account", it's instant and don't need for website to be updated.

Today, my IN PROCESS status just changed to DECISION MADE! Now, I need to just wait for a passport request or COPR. What's the next step? Does the PPR (passport request) come by email? The sponsored applicant's email or the sponsor's?

as an FYI... those who are visa exempt and have DM in ECAS receive their COPR (landing document) in the mail without any other notification, not a letter stating what they need to finalize the PR. That letter is specific to those requiring visas and will include information about sending your passport for stamping. Once stamped, you'll receive your COPR when your passport is returned.

I found my answer! Thanks. I guess I just need to wait for the COPR in the mail since my wife is from a visa-exempt country.

Here's what I copy/pasted from ECAS:

1. We received your application for permanent residence on May 5, 2016. [- AOR1 received in email]
2. We started processing your application on June 13, 2016. [- SA email received in email on Jun 17; application forwarded to Ottawa]
3. We sent you correspondence on August 2, 2016. If you have not yet provided the information or the requested documents, please do so as soon as possible. Please wait until you receive the correspondence before sending us additional information, as the correspondence will outline all information that is required. [- request for Medical additional document; this caused a delay in our application]
4. Medical results have been received. [This was the status line for about 3 weeks with IN PROCESS]

DECISION MADE [Aug 31, 2016] on ECAS

Background- I'm a Canadian citizen sponsoring my Korean wife (visa-exempt)

Hi mrkeuriseu, my PPR came via email but CIC will alert you in ecas that they'll be sending correspondence. All I can say is check your emails thoroughly. I didn't receive any correspondence for 2 weeks, even though CIC said they sent it out on August 12th. I sent an email to my visa office to inform them that I hadn't received anything and they sent my PPR a few days later. Also, it will come to the Principal Applicant. Best of luck.

I'm from a visa-exempt country (United Kingdom), it wasn't a passport request per se, they wanted a photocopy of my passport photo page and bio-metric page as well as 2 photographs and I had to complete information for my PR Card but it's still; considered a PPR.
