Today is Day 70 waiting for news of my SA, which should be nothing but straightforward. The original processing time for SA, when our application was received was 43 days, and now it's up to 55 days. I called two full weeks ago and made an inquiry. The agent said that he would initiate a formal inquiry, and that it could take up to 3 months, but that a response would likely come much more quickly. That being said, I see so many people on here who have been waiting for SA were able to receive confirmation of SA over the phone, after the processing time had passed, and they called CIC. Even though a formal inquiry was started 2 weeks ago, should I persist and call again? Will a different agent be able to tell me more? Should I take the time to link my profile with our application now, and will I learn more? Or, do I just need to be exceedingly patient and not try to understand CIC, or hope to look for any patterns, based on others? My wife is here now on a TRV, for a one-month visit, and we were hoping to receive some exciting and positive news before she returns home next week (Day 80 of waiting for SA).

Also, I have a question about Guide 3900 (pgs. 12 & 13), and the Length of Undertaking section. The note says that if payments from the federal, provincial, or municipal assistance program are made to your relative while the undertaking is in effect, you will be considered in default. Does this note apply to student loans? My step-daughter will be eligible for university soon after they arrive, and we were hoping to access student loans, or is this not possible because of my undertaking?

Thanks!
Hi you should definitely call them again tomorrow first thing.
They second time I called the agent told me not to call again for a week.
The third time I called the agent told me I passed SA on the same date the second agent told me not to call for another week.
It was another 10 days after my third call when I finally received the SA letter in the mail, not by email as I had been expecting.

The third agent confirmed I had received SA but wouldn't confirm where the file was forwarded to or any other information,
he told me he was not allowed to tell me and told me to wait for the letter.

When I called a fourth time to complain of not receiving the letter yet the agent confirmed where the file was sent and couldn't
understand why I didn't already know that.

They are not consistent, some are not diligent, and it was actually 69 days when I was approved for SA
but about a week later when I phoned as instructed when I actually found out I'd already passed SA.

Call and ask your questions in a determined but calm and polite voice.

And nobody responds to the 'enquiry' they made for you. You will hear absolutely nothing in response to this.
The inquiry goes to the officer to remind them this file is past the average expected time and someone is asking about it.
That's all. The officer either gets it finished soon or he doesn't. Nobody will actually followup with you on that specific inquiry.
Waiting 3 more months is absolutely ludicrous. Don't accept that. Push back, gently and politely, but be a little assertive in inquirying for you answer and your information.

When I applied SA timeline was 39 days. I called on day 40. Literally. Told them posted time had passed and I would like an update on my file. Once she found it she said something along the lines of "the deadline just passed yesterday" to which I responded "yes, it did and I would like an update" lol. She then told me postive decision was made the day before and app forwarded to Singapore. I wasn't going to let them tell something like call back in such and such time length.. Time had passed and I was anxious and so I politely but assertively made sure they knew I wanted an answer. I recieved the SA email the next day.

I do the same thing with my GCMS notes. My last notes took 32 days.. on day 31 I emailed them reminding them that they were late.. next morning it was in my inbox. Lol

i'm a bit surprised to keep reading posts like this. are they no longer sending extension request emails? i thought technically by law they HAVE to respond by 30 days or request an extension. i remember receiving an extension notice back in 2014. it's weird they don't seem to bother with that anymore...

Hi all...

So today we received an additional document request for 3 items:

  • Long Form Marriage Certificate (due in 30 days)
  • FBI - We'd sent a letter saying it was ordered and were waiting for it. (due in 90 days)
  • Right to Permanent Residence fee

Our VO is Ottawa.

Does anyone know what this indicates? Thankfully I do have the long form version of our marriage certificate. I thought that was an odd request. FBI should be in this week or next week... What is the Right to PR fee? Does it show where we are in the process?

Also, since they sent this, will it extend our processing time to the end of the 90 days, or would they pick it up again after FBI is sent?

Did they ask you for a copy of the long form of your marriage certificate or the original? the rest I couldn't help you with, my case is not as advanced as yours....

hey guys i m am may 26 2016 applicant my wife got an email yesterday from New delhi visa office saying

In order to expedite the processing of your application, we are requesting that you provide the following as soon as possible:
· Proof of payment of your Right of Permanent Resident Fee (landing fee) to our office in Mississauga or by your sponsor in Canada, if not already paid. Note: dependent children are not required to pay the Right of Permanent Resident Fee.
· Submission of police clearance certificates for you and all dependent family members who are 18 years or older, for time spent in any country for a period of 6 months or more, if not already submitted. Note: If you or your family members were under 18 years of age (16 years of age in certain jurisdictions) for the entire time you lived in a particular country, you do not need to provide a police certificate for that country.
IF YOU ARE A NATIONAL OF AFGHANISTAN:
· All males aged 15 and above and all females aged 18 and above must complete supplementary information forms. You and your dependents must complete these forms whether or not they are accompanying you to Canada. Please write your file number on every page of the form. The form can be found at page 22 of the following link: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/guides/3911e.pdf

PLEASE RETURN A COPY OF THIS LETTER WITH THE REQUESTED DOCUMENTS. This request is not a guarantee of visa issuance. If any other documents have been requested you must also comply with that request. Failure to comply with the request may result in the refusal of your application.

see the highlighted sections? This is a standard form letter that's sent to all applicants, so it's not specifically referring to your wife's applicaiton. it is suggesting IF you did not already send this in, then you need to do it now. Typically, if the letter does not include instructions for how to send this information, you would just reply to the email with the requested documents. Otherwise, you can submit a case specific enquiry through the CIC website OR you can check the Sponsor approval letter or AOR from the visa office (if this isn't it and she received another email previous to this) for a mailing or email address. If this is her AOR from her visa office, then again, it's not directed at her. it is a reminder to send in the information so the application can process.

if this is the first letter she (the principal applicant) received from the visa office, then assume it is HER AOR. you as the sponsor will not be sent any further communication from cic. all further communication will be addressed to the applicant only.

as an FYI... those who are visa exempt and have DM in ECAS receive their COPR (landing document) in the mail without any other notification, not a letter stating what they need to finalize the PR. That letter is specific to those requiring visas and will include information about sending your passport for stamping. Once stamped, you'll receive your COPR when your passport is returned.
