Hello, just wondering if anyone on here knows how risky leaving canada is? I was going to go outland but due to increased processing times in London and my work visa running out I am considering outland. I'm just worried about not being able to leave canada and come back in.

Just wanna share the timeline of our applications and see how the progress goes along. A thread for our own specific concerns while waiting. I applied the PR and OWP myself without any representative.

Med Exam - done upfront on 14 Mar 2015
Original PR and OWP - app sent to CPC - Mississauga (courier address) on 6 May 2015, courier received by CIC on 8 May 2015
2nd OWP - app sent to CPC – Vegreville on 4 June 2015
Miskates made:
(1) Not filing the payer info parts on the official receipts
(2) Not making sufficient payment for the original OWP application, $255 in total, only $100 is paid at first
Current Status : waiting for initial feedback from CIC

So when you include OWP in your spousal application are you supposed to also make a payment for the OWP?

Well, i am not sure how risky it can be but i would say it is not recommended by CIC and other people in this forum if you apply inland. You may try to extend your work visa while you apply outland.

Yes, of course. I didn't pay enough money in my original application and it made me nervous. (see my mistakes) To play safe, I sent out the 2nd OWP application.

In my original application, I had paid $1,040 (Sponsor $75, Principal applicant $475, Right of permanent residency fee $490) online for PR and $100 for OWP.

Then I found out that I need to pay two fees for OWP:
Work Permit (including extensions) - $155.00
Open Work Permit Holder fee - $100.00

I wish I knew all the details back then. I am still wondering if the prepaid Right of permanent residency fee will cover the $155 short, but no one can tell me what the official will actually do in my case. The CIC website states that there is no specific service attached to the receipts we sent within our application. So better pay more and wait for refund in all cases.

no update yet. no email from CIC, no ecas activation, etc. :-\

Hey folks,

I applied inland in May, application was recvd on May 19th and we got AOR on July 23rd (seem to be taking about 2 months at the moment for some reason).

No news on the OWP so far, but fingers crossed that won't take too much longer as I'm going stir crazy sitting at home all day.

Hey, it was emailed to my sponsor directly. People were getting AOR after about a month at one point but it seems like may applications are taking nearly two months for some reason.

still haven't got any feedback; kinda worried about it; I will call the hotline tmrw and check it out. Any tips for contacting CIC hotline? It will be the first encounter for me tmrw.

Hey, did you manage to get anything out of CIC when you called or are you still waiting on AOR?

the CIC response from the hotline was not helpful at all. Crap!! The lady just told me it would take long for the application to process. She emailed me the general info such as the processing time etc. that i could just read online. She just told me that they are working on Mar 2014 cases. Nothing responded to my particular case indeed! Frustrated!

I saw someone else (cyysz) got their open work permit yesterday. He applied the day before you and also didn't receive AOR. Hopefully you'll be in the same boat - the good news is that if you *do* get your OWP soon, it'll have your UCI on it and you'll be able to check ECAS.
