I think today is the 40th day, hopefully we'll get a response before September. I'm happy for those people that got their SA from the May's spreadsheet. Kinda sad on my part though... Ughhhh :(

have you called cic recently for an update? june applicants are reporting that when they call, they are being notified over the phone about sponsor approval, yet they still haven't received notification by email/mail. if you haven't called in a while, it's worth a shot.

Hey everyone, quick question.

My wife's visitors visa is expiring on Aug 26th, but we are "hoping" for a word back from CIC fairly soon since they received our application May 22 and got SA July 18.

So heres what I am wondering. Should we pay to extend her visa? Or would she be OK on implied status since we are in the process? By the looks of it, people who have applied in the same ish time as us are getting their COPR.

Thanks!

Jon

well obviously things have changed since march/april! sorry to hear that! keep faith it will all be ok. have you recently called CIC for an update? there are some june applicants who have called to check in and they have been told over the phone the sponsor has been approved weeks ago. they haven't received any notification from cic otherwise. it's worth a shot. i made my husband call every week until we heard something!

Yupz things have changed. I always ask my spouse to call once a week and still they are not very helpful. No further information says it's delayed coz of the missing form. It's not worth the effort now to continue calling anymore.

I called them but that was like a month ago, but how are they able to track my application without any ECAS or confirmation number? Coz I don't think they haven't checked my files. Should I just like tell them the sponsor's name which is me? Thanks!

only the sponsor can call to check in about sponsor eligibility. you can certainly call without having any uci or file number. they will look you up by name. people do it all the time.

Hi Jon,
I applied for a visitor visa extension.
I don't think you are on implied status with an outland application.

correct, sending in a pr application does not give implied status. inland applicants can get implied status IF they send in an app for an OWP at the same time. If the outland applicant's visa is expiring, then you must apply to extend it in order to remain in status during the application period. it's not safe to assume anything with CIC, so just because other may applicants are getting approved quickly, that is no guarantee EVERY may applicant at the same visa office will be approved in the same timeframe. approval is based on many factors that are unique to each application.

I phoned them and yeah, they would based it on the day that they got the document that I missed which is July 11. Kinda sad coz I submitted my application in May. Oh well,

Off question:

If my wife(applicant) has a debt, would that affect her application would you guys know? We're still trying to work it out and trying to get it paid ASAP. Appreciate the help guys, this forum makes me feel better for some reason :)

haha! NO! they don't run credit checks on applicants, and i would think it's impossible to run credit checks on people not living in canada. most countries have their own credit rating system, and credit is non-transferable across countries. if debt was a reason for denials of PR, then there probably wouldn't be many people getting approved. don't worry about it... i believe the only financial concerns cic has relates to welfare and bankruptcy, and i'm pretty sure it's only the sponsor's financial status they care about.

Thanks for giving us a peace of mind :) have a great day!

well hello there folks! haha i've been on our honeymoon for 2 weeks so i haven't checked this forum in ages.

how's everyone doing? :D anyone landed? :P

as for us, we still didn't receive the CSQ even if we were approved.. apparently they sent the CSQ to my husband's apartment (even if he indicated ANOTHER adress for that -_- ) but it's not there :(
i got an e-mail from Bucharest VO in the meantime, it was basically an AOR2 + requesting documents (the CSQ - they want an original one, really?).. the communication between MICC and overseas VO's is "fantastic". i do remember there was a user here that had to get the CSQ and got it in 1 week after requesting it and London VO acknowledged it already , didn't ask him for anything else. oh the joy with CIC.....

Yea governments are always 100% consistant and reliable. They are always earning their well deserved tax payers dollars and immigration fees. ;D

When I got my SA, they said in the email I had missed my upfront medical, and were forwarding my application to Ottawa for the next step of processing. I was to inform Ottawa of the medical once it was complete. We had then done it, and sent it within the week. Do you think this will cause delays and start the clock over like some of you have to do? :o
