We sent in our application on May 8th, was received by Mississauga on May 14th, but we have heard nothing since then... *sigh* My wife is Canadian and I am the sponsored spouse.

Interestingly, I was able to use my UCI number (I'm living with my wife while I am in Canada on a study permit) yesterday to access ecas and it confirms they received the application on May 14th, but nothing else.

So frustrated here - too many "what if"s going through my head about why we haven't heard anything yet. ???

I feel you. Don't worry, we also have not received any feedback from CIC. Our application was received by them on 22nd May. Hopefully we hear from them within this week.

Congrats to those who received their SA:)))

On the website it says my application was received May 12th. I had a week delay from a missing form, and I just heard yesterday. If there's no problems with yours I would expect to hear this week. Good luck!

congrats ;) CIC seems to be moving faster now

Apparently though, we did not provide an IMM1017B upfront. A panel physician exam. We did do a medical exam and provided the results however my mistake was not using one provided on the government web site. (doh!) they are allowing us to mail in the results of a test to the cpc ottawa to prevent delays. Seems they are somewhat generous as to not decline the application unless of course we fail to provide.

Also have good news to share, we got our SA today. I know it's "just" the first step and there are no guarantees...but I'm just so giddy today :D

Cutie pie: I'll be here waiting for you because I'm going through another known slowpoke VO (Vienna)

Question for those that have recieved their SA email; did it specifically tell you all further communication would be done via xyz visa office? Because ours mentions nothing of Vienna but rather a mailing adress and email in Ottawa. I'm a bit confused..... I'll show you mine, if you show me yours :P

yes, the sponsor eligibility letter specifically says which visa office the file has been sent to. It will say something like "the file has been sent to the visa office abroad", and then will list the contact information for the visa office.

Ok, any idea why our application would be sent to Ottawa then? I'm Canadian and my husband is Dutch, we live in the Netherlands therefore our VO should be Vienna. I'm confused...

no idea. maybe it was a mistake on the letter? or there are internal changes for applications we are not aware of? if you call CIC, i think they can verify where the application was sent. they may be able to tell you why it went to ottawa instead of vienna. Or you can order your electronic case notes to see if there is any mention of "why".

Hello everybody

As far as I was to believe, Ottawa would process every case for people immigrating to Canada unless there was reason for interviewing where it is then passed on to the appropriate abroad location. Or something to that extent.. don't mark my words, but thats what I had thought..

um no... for the majority of people, it won't start working for at least 3 days after getting SA. It seems to be longer than that right now, and can take 2-4 weeks for some people.

um again. no. if that were the case, then why are there foreign visa offices? Applications don't just automatically go to ottawa. Ottawa is considered a "foreign visa office" even though it's in canada. it processes application from various countries, mostly visa exempt, i believe. The majority of applications get sent to the appropriate country's visa office located outside of canada. Whether an interview will be requested happens AFTER the file gets sent to that country specific visa office ABROAD and the file is picked up for review from an officer.
