Hello, I got an offer from Matrix College, it says for 1 year/2 semester. My agent says it is 2 years and they will extend it to 2 years on orientation. Is it true?

Although not fair to regard all agents the same never wise to always believe agent. It is your future at stake so suggest you contact the college directly for confirmation.

Be aware that with this college the course needs to meet specific requirements for a PGWP

https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/study-canada/study-permit/prepare/designated-learning-institutions-list/quebec.html

To be eligible for a PGWP, your program must be 900 hours or longer and lead to 1 of the following:

  • Diplôme d’études professionnelles (DEP) (Diploma in Vocational Studies)
  • Attestation de spécialisation professionnelle (ASP) (Attestation of Vocational Specialization)
  • Diplôme d’études collégiales (DEC) (Diploma in College Studies)
  • Attestation d’études collégiales (AEC) (Attestation of College Studies)
You must also meet the other PGWP criteria.

Thanks for the reply. Yes, it is an AEC course, but I needed 2 years full time course but on the offer letter it states 1 year and when asked I was told that they will give you 1year extension on orientation, so just wanted to know if this scenario is possible or not. I will confirm it from the college as well.

With 1 year LOA, you will get only 1 year caq and visa, if they extend you will have to reapply for caq, the chances of refusal are very high nowadays and hence visa won't be extended.
Exercise caution now than to suffer later.

Yes, I am aware of that. I want 3years of PGWP and this is why I need that 2 years of AEC course. It fills 900-1800hrs criteria too. Thanks for the heads up, I will get it confirmed from the college.

Yes you can apply for another college but make sure that you enroll into another college before the end of your 1st year and extend your study permit before the end of the course.
