Marriage Certificate

Hi,

Can anyone tell me what happens with the marriage certificate. We were married on 5th November :-*, but we can't get our marriage certificate for at least 2 months. We are applying outland through London, so what happens?

Can we send a copy of the record of Solemnization of Marriage, and follow it up in 2 months with a copy of the official certificate?

Did you get married in Ireland or UK?

If its Ireland, just go down to the local registry office and they should give you one there (we got ours the same day)

My wife and I got married in Canada and we used the record of Solemnization of Marriage to send with our application, as we did not want to wait the 12 weeks as required by Ontario

If you were married in Ontario - you don't actually need to wait to months. On the advice of someone on this forum, we submitted the request for our certificate about a week after we married and we had our certificate two weeks after that.

I don't think is obrigatory the marriage certificate. As long as you have a copy of Solemnization of marriage should be fine.

The marriage certificate is a mandatory document. Some have been able to get away with providing the marriage certificate late or providing the solemnization document instead. However according to the rules, you must include a marriage certificate.

BTW we are ordering on line this week.
We got married on October 29 and sent our application on November 7th (Inland - Vegreville AB)

Hi,

I called the Marriage Licence office and they said that I could try to Expidite it, so I faxed off my request with a letter, but when I checked their website, it said that they have no record of our marriage yet. I will keep checking the site and see, otherwise I will send the application with the Solmenization form.
