Marriage Based-sponsorship question

Hi,

I am a Canadian Citizen and planning to get married to someone out of Canada.
From last 4 years I am not working, and I understand that there is a sponsorship requirement where we need to show last 1 year of tax return.
My question is:

1. How can I sponsor if I am not working?
2. Can my family become a co-sponsor?
3. What is the minimum requirement for a family income to be?

I will really appreciate if you can pls help me out. We are in great flux.

There is no minimum income requirement for spousal sponsorship. However, you will need to send your option C for last tax year.You will also need to show how you will support your family. You should not be on welfare as it makes the sponsor ineligible.
Your family cannot become a co-sponsor. Although, you can get letters from them explaining that they are supporting you for now.
You should keep applying for jobs as, it shows that you are making efforts to get a job. If your spouse is a qualified individual that can also help to prove that he/she can start working and provide for the family once the application is approved.

If you haven't filed an income tax in the past 4 years, then you won't have an option C.

You can sponsor him. But without an option C, you need to provide anything you can showing that you will be financially stable enough so that you (and he) will not need welfare. Show financial records, bank account statements, letters from parents saying they will help support, his job prospects in Canada, etc...

If you haven't worked or received government assistance, how have you supported yourself over the past 4 years?

If you have relied on family for financial support, then they must write a testimonial letter that they will support you and your spouse also after he becomes a PR.
If you are living off savings, then you will need to show proof of funds to live on.
You can also indicate what kind of skills your spouse has, and what type of job/salary they expects to get in Canada.

THere is no specific number you must show, you just need to satisfy the VO you will be able to support yourselves and will not go on government assistance.
