I'm so glad I found this forum!

I'm a Canadian citizen living in Québec and my fiance is an Indonesian citizen living in Indonesia.

She currently has a multiple entry TRV coming to an end on the 23rd of February 2019. She is coming to visit me with her mother (an Australian citizen) on the 12th of January so that we can get married. Is there a risk that the immigration officer not let her come in to Canada If she tells them that she is coming in to Canada to get married? What should I tell her to say to the immigration officer? I know you must nerver lie to them, but I've heard people say not to give them information that they don't ask for. Any advice?

She has already visited me in juin this year and after that we decided to get married and live together. The plan is for us to get married and then I go back with her to Indonesia to register our marriage there and celebrate the union with her family. After that I come back and start the Outland family sponsorship.

There is a risk that the CBSA officer may deny entry if your stated purpose is for marriage because they may be concerned that she will overstay for the purposes of inland sponsorship. However, if that's the entirety of the purpose, and the CBSA officer asks the purpose of the visit, she should state that she is there for a wedding and that she will be leaving afterwards.

It is the main reason for her visit to Canada, yes. She will of course also use the time to visit my family and visit Québec.

Is the fact that her visitor visa close to it's end a potential problem?

Is a rejection by the immigration officer a common thing?
She will be entering Canada in Toronto and her final landing will be in Montréal if that information can help

We are planning to have a religious celebration in Indonesia afterward. Would it be a good idea for her to bring the paperwork for that? We already have plane tickets for me, her mother and herself to leave Canada the 2 of February should she bring that too?

She should have no issues. There is nothing wrong with coming to Canada to marry. Don't volunteer info but don't lie if asked. They should have the outward flight tickets for all 3 of you if asked.

Her TRV validity has nothing to do with her stay in Canada.

To be honest, if she's already entered and left Canada once on her multi-entry TRV, the chances of being rejected are low. She's already demonstrated an ability to abide by her terms of admission.

Rejection by CBSA officers is not the most common thing. Typically, it's rejection by the visa office. She already has a TRV, so that hurdle is overcome already.

If she's arriving into T3 at YYZ, she will actually get a machine for primary inspection and typically only see a CBSA officer cursorily after submitting her receipt. They may not ask any questions at all. If she's arriving into T1, she'll still see a CBSA officer and submit a paper declaration form. They may ask her the purpose of the visit. Then she should say "to attend a wedding." They may ask her who's getting married, she will of course need to say that it is her, but that she has no intentions of staying in Canada past the terms of her admission to the country. She should have those documents that you've mentioned above. Exit plane tickets help, but since they can always be cancelled, they're not a guarantee.

The end of her visitor's visa isn't so much an issue - that's actually just the end of the period by which she is allowed to enter Canada.

I wouldn't overly worry. She already has the TRV, which is typically the biggest challenge.

I'll make sure to tell her to bring the paperwork and proof of payment for the Indonesian celebration when she arrive.

I'll open a different tread when it's time to do the outland family sponsorship after the wedding.

Everything went well and we are now happily married. We are currently visiting Indonesia to have a religious ceremony and greet her family relative.

I'm also in the process of filling the paperwork for a spousal sponsorship for her to be able to com the to Canada as a permanent resident.

If you are a citizen you can apply from Indonesia if you are doing outland. You don't have to wait until you return to Canada. If it is just a short trip to Indonesia it won't make a big difference.

Well, I'm returning to work in Québec in a few weeks and we are still gathering all the documents we need to submit. We just got the police certificate à few days ago (luckily both in Indonesia and English) So I will be submitting outland but from Québec since she will be staying behind in Indonesia for her work and also because her visitor visa is expired.
