Marriage after COPR for both

hi,

I am getting married next year and both of us have the copr...

What exactly do we have to do?

Will we have to inform CIC by raising a CSE?

Will our current COPRs be invalid?

interesting. i know for a fact that the email had specific instructions for such cases. however, since both of you have CoPR, would it be wrong to just get it stamped for now and deal with any changes that take place later? Especially since you are getting married next year- not sure if 'engagement' has any legal value

Technically not engaged either.

Just happened to apply as single and marriage fixed 6 months later..

We are planning to submit it as of now and then inform them once we get the marriage certificate.

Any idea if this is fine??

i cannot speak with any legal expertise. you may do a consult with a lawyer.

however, your marital status has not changed as far as i can tell. once you do get married, only then does it. i'm thinking there are people who got engaged but did not go through with the marriage- would the CIC care?

If you both land as single and then get married after, you don't have to do anything. IRCC doesn't care about your marital status changes once you are already a PR.

Hello any update?

Best option in this situation to land before marriage as single and apply for PR card. Then you are technically a Canadian PR getting married to another Canadian PR. Both of you individually applied and got PR so should not matter.

But getting married and then landing can get a bit tricky.
