Hi everyone,

I applied for PR under the RNIP stream while I was single. After receiving AOR, I got married and informed IRCC through multiple webforms. I clearly mentioned that my spouse is non-accompanying and submitted all relevant documents (marriage certificate, passport, medical, PCC etc.). I also responded to my PR Portal 1 email mentioning my marriage.
Recently, I received my GCMS notes, but there is no mention of my marriage or my spouse anywhere in the file. I’m very worried this wasn’t updated properly, and I’m concerned how this might affect future spousal sponsorship.

Has anyone experienced something similar? What should I do now? Will it cause issues if I want to sponsor my spouse under the Family Class later?

Any advice would be appreciated!

Thanks in advance.

Do you have copies of all the information you submitted? If so, that is very helpful and you should be okay.

Next: if you have got the PR portal 1 but not the COPR yet - call IRCC to confirm what's going on.

I dont know the portal 1 etc steps very well - but is there not a form or screen to confirm the information about yourself, including fields like SPOUSE?

There is no option for marital status or spouse. However, I mentioned my recent marriage again in my reply to the Portal email from IRCC.

Unfortunately I can't guess much more, not been through the virtual landing process - though I'm surprised there is not a point to confirm your family status/composition. I'd still suggest calling IRCC to check.

It is important to document what you have and ensure IRCC is on the same page, because you don't want them claiming you didn't declare your spouse.
