Good day everyone,

I just want to ask some really important questions, just to give an overview, I m a filipina who will be applying for a TRV / Tourist visa in Canada to visit my children in Canada. 6 years ago my husband moved to Canada for work and started a new life there and we, his children, were left in the Philippines. Our relationship here in the Philippines was not really okay back then we are married but not really in good terms. So when he moved to Canada, he had been dating other girls and i am really okay with that until then he filed a Divorce in Canada and got approved and got the documents. He was given an opportunity to invite his children 3 years ago and then they moved to Canada and got their PR already they are ages 16 and 13 years old. I was left here in the Philippines.

Now, the situation is, my children really miss me so much and they want me to come to Canada to celebrate Holidays probably this coming December 28 - Jan 18. So my children will be providing me the invitation letter and their father.

My questions are:

1. Upon visa application what would be the Marital Status I will be putting
would it be still married since we haven't filed divorce here in the Philippines or Divorced already since the my ex husband already has the divorced documents in Canada?
2. what should be declared?
3. Any tips to get for high chances of approval since it's going to be my first time traveling to another country? Although I can provide the financial needs or bank certificate that i have enough money to stay in travel in Canada and I have a good job here in the Philippines. I am currently a Head Nurse of the Company for over 6 years already. I just really miss my kids and want to spend Christmas and New year with them.

Thank you so much. I hope someone can help me out on this matter.

1. You can put Divorced if you can provide the divorce papers since Canada would recognize it from their perspective. They know there is no divorce in the Philippines. Also include a succinct letter (1 page) describing the history and current situation of your relationship.

2. What do you mean by this?

3. Provide a daily budget and itinerary of your trip. Ordinarily you would show at least $4k CAD, but you would also have to budget some activities with your kids. IMO at least $12k is comfortable.

Also provide a COE from your company that details your tasks and responsibilities...would be nice if it includes supervisory or management activities, so long as you actually perform those tasks. Also include benefits, etc.

IMO your degree of difficulty is greater because of your nursing background and lack of travel history (someone with that kind of profile is more likely to migrate through the caregiver program), so include as many hard evidence of ties to the Philippines as you can.

I really appreciate your response on this. I am actually working on it. besides my ex husband will provide information about our relationship on his invitation letter.

Yes, I will be providing COE stating my job responsibilities in my Company, leave of absence, and a letter from the president that I have a primary role in this company. I have been with this Company for 6 years as a Head Nurse. My bank certificate would be around 10-11K CAD.

That's what I am thinking too since im in the medical field and that is what most others people do when they go abroad.

Sounds good. The 11k can do, let’s hope. Don’t forget at least the last 4 months of bank statements.

BTW, no need to book your tickets until after the visa is approved. You can show a reservation or mock booking, but it’s not necessary.

Thank you so much that's all information i needed for now. Yes, I can provide a reservation ticket together with my application.
