Marital Status on my CoPR is wrong

Hi all,

I got my CoPR a few days ago. However, the "Personal Details - PA" Section of my CoPR has my marital status listed as "single" when I am common law. My common law partner is even listed on the CoPR, so now I'm confused.

How can I fix this? I will contact them but I want to make sure this is an issue and not just something they do specifically for the CoPR or something that I'm not understanding.

Also, one more quick question before I start reading up to prepare for my landing.
Under "Application Details" it says valid to 10-22-18. Does this mean I have until then to land? My medical was extended until then, so does that still count?

Thanks for all the help, guys. Even though there are still things left to do, I greatly appreciate this forum's helpin getting to this point and want to make sure I am still doing things right.

If you're not married are not considered single? All other government docs I've never seen an option for CL but I totally could be wrong

Legally, you are "single." There is no legal status to define common-law as marital status nor to show that you're dating someone, so listing you as single is perfectly fine and should not cause any problems.

Typically they set the deadline for you to land as the same time your medical exam expires, so you would have until the date you listed to officially land.

I was sponsored as common law and my COPR marital status says COMMON LAW. I don’t have an answer for you, just thought I’d share my personal experience.

Hi

You can have this corrected when you land. As your partner is your sponsor and not included as a dependent in the app, it is not a mistake that affects the app.

Yes, you have until the date your medical expires to land.

Legally for IRCC, they are common-law and the COPR should state that.

Okay, so I will get that corrected when I land and not worry about contacting them for now. Thanks Canuck.
