A quick question for fellow residents on a work permit. I’ll be leaving Canada in a month and don’t intend to return until the next year. I’ve been in Canada for 18 months on a closed work permit and have an opportunity to apply for a bridging open work permit. Now, my understanding is that there is an expectation of me staying in the country or leaving and returning in a short period. Would you say it’s worth it for me to apply for an open work permit even though I won’t need it in the next year? @legalfalcon May I ask your advice too, good sir/madam? Thanks.

If you don't intend returning until your PR application is approved, there is no point applying for a BOWP. Once you move out of Canada for an indefinite period make sure that you update your address with IRCC.

As and when your application will be approved, you will be informed and based on the country you will be in, you will be sent instructions to submit your passport, if you are not from a visa exempt country.

Just got an update in my profile right now:

Latest update:
Review of medical results - April 19, 2021:You passed the medical exam.

According to IRCC that was the only thing left for my process to be completed.
Hope to receive COPR soon
When did your medical expire? How long did it take them to extend your medicals?

Just called IRCC agency,
Eligibility passed,
Security not started,
CrimInality in progress,

Agency told me that means my file does not picked up by an officer.

Anyone same boat as me?

Still stuck in the deep ocean..
Exactly same situation for me, according to my last call.
