I don't speak Tagalog, that is why I don't go on the Filipino Language thread. But you are right, it appears that some people who submitted spouse application in December have received passport request from the Manila VO. This is great, but the question is, will they sustain this speed or will it go back to being 10+ months due to summer leave block which most government employees have.

Summer vacation had just finished in Philippines,as you all know we have our summer by March - May. That is why our hopes are high for the applications to be processed fast.

That's interesting, in Costa Rica "summer" is December - February.

Ecas shows decision made today:

We started processing your application on June 9, 2014.

Medical results have been received.

A decision has been made on Your application. The office will contact You concerning this decision.

Oh nice one!!!

So far we have 1 person from an affluent country almost getting his PR (no surprise), and 2 people from VOs with a 22 month and 16 month processing time getting their PPRs already.

That is incridble. I'm very happy for those folks. Sadly there is one or two people whose application seems to vanish in every month. So CIC will not be perfect, but they are good for the most part.

Congrats to those almost there. Unfortunaltely, ours is still not even in Process....the sponsor part.

I had sent several emails to my MP, with no response, so I asked if my parents could call the MP's office. My mom did and actually spent a good 35 minutes talking with this nice lady. She was helpful, but in the end, they are not able to call CIC until I am in their office (something about reputation). Makes sense I guess. I am in Thailand till Mid July and will drop in the minute I get back. Hopefully I will have AOR and SA before then!

Here are some questions I have for you friends, regarding from what was relayed to me from the MP's assistant:
1. The assistant mentioned she is the one who deals with immigration issues and calling CIC, not the MP...Is this normal?
2. It was mentioned that the MP office can only intervene (call) during the first stage. Once it is sent to Visa Office abroad, they are not able to help or call any more. :o For some reason, I thought it was the opposite...do MP's ever call during the second stage? (If past normal wait times) Maybe just this MP?

In all, it is nice to know if the problem persists, I have someone to meet with when I get back. They said my emails were very thorough and informative, and would call today if I was actually in Canada.

O_guy, thanks for the offer before, if you have some secret methods I am not aware of please let me know 8)

That is my one big worry. My application or at least the form I mailed has vanished. The 45 day deadline for that form is today (i believe this is the bring forward date). Four things may happen in my situation:

1. I will receive email from CIC in next few days (AOR), or that more documents are required
2. My application will be returned due to the form not being found (letter states that if no form is resubmitted in 45 days application will be returned.
3. Application is forgotten, on a slow/absent VO's desk, and will get answers in mid- July when MP involved
4. Some serious background checks being performed on me (sponsor), that is taking extra too long

It is very depressing at the thought that others may already be landed before ours is even in process. Not that I wish ill will towards anyone! Genuinely am happy others will be together soon.

That must be very stressful, i hope you hear something soon. Hope you dont have to wait till mid July to hear something.

STEP 1 processing time is now an astonishing 56 days! It has doubled in two months.

There is one more interesting thing that I found and I wanted to share with you guys. If you already know this, ignore me :) The average processing time mentioned on CIC website for STEP 2 is based on 80% applications completion time. Did you guys know that CIC also publishes a spreadsheet which gives a breakdown of average processing times for 20%, 50% and 80% applications? For example, if 20% applications at a visa office are completed in 4 months, 50% are completed in 6 months and 80% are completed in 9 months, then CIC will say that average processing time is 9 months for 80% applications for that visa office. But in reality you have the chance of getting processed in 4 months if your application is perfect with no red flags. I have only found this out less than a week ago. Here is the link to the spreadsheet. The spreadsheet had data broken down by month, by visa office etc.

this is a great explanation of the wait time statistics. i am often confused about the 80%, and not sure i'll actually ever wrap my head around it.

it's important keep in mind the information in that dataset is at least 1 year old, so it may not give a true indicator of today's applications. combining that data with the information from this forum gives a better "average" today, in my opinion.

You posted the wrong link I think.... Processing times are here.

I agree it's great to see all this data.... although just another distraction while we all wait it out!

Koifish76, stay away from that type of mind set. My wife and I make conscious effort to not feel sad or depressed. I talk about how the time this process takes will be miniscule compared to the 50+ years that we hope to be together.

In another post, you mentioned that your MP's assistant will not help unless you are there. I think if your mother goes to her rather than just calling, she will pick up the phone and contact CIC for you. It is much easier to say "no" to your mother since your mother just called the MP's office, it is harder to say "no" someone when they are sitting in your office and you are public servant. You are in a bad situation because you don't know what happened to your application. So at this point, I think it is very important for your parents to knock on the door of that office since you are not in Canada to do it yourself.

But for the Canadians who work at the VO, it is possible for them to take vacation and visit their family/relatives in Canada when it is summer in Canada. Personally if I worked in a warm climate country, I would not want to visit Canada when it is -30 degrees.

Can you apply/register/get healthcare from ramq with copr or do you need to land?
Do you know?

You need to land because only then you can apply for a social insurance number. You need that number to apply for RAMQ. Applying for RAMQ is done in one visit to their office but you will be on a 3 month waiting period at first, so it's advisable to get a private insurance for those first tree months. Hope this helps.
