Special? No, just the usual - stapled a $20.00 bill to every second page, with a $50.00 every 10th page. ;D

Umm, no, the app was fully complete though - medical done, fees paid, etc, etc. We've been married for five years, so have lots of paperwork vouching for marriage legitimacy, and there are no kids, so that simplifies it.

We live in the Middle East, which I'm of two minds about - one way it seems problematic to me as the police checks and what not are damned troublesome, as well as the added burden of proving intent to return to Canada. On the other hand, the screening and visas that we go through for the local residency visas are quite rigorous, and there is no way that non-legitimately married folks get one. Additionally we have travelled a lot in the US (she has a ten year tourist visa there) and EU over the years, for which my wife had to get visas and various biometric checks in addition to the two TRVs she's held for Canada in the past. I don't know whether all of these visas are a hindrance or a help, but they all have me as her sponsor, which helps to indicate marriage legitimacy. Additionally, we have newspaper announcements here publishing name changes, intent to marry and that sort of good stuff (legally required locally), which is further proof of public knowledge of our marriage.

I expect if there are any problems it will be with proof of intent to return to Canada. I do have a contract termination letter from my current employer and a job offer letter from Canada, as well as proof that I have applied to restart my professional licenses in Canada, and statutory declarations from both myself and folks back in Canada that they are aware of our plans to go to New Brunswick- so I hope that it is enough.

If you live in the Middle East, why did you send the application to Canada? The reason I'm asking is because since you do not live in Canada, CPC-M cannot verify your income.

Where else would he send it? It has to go through cpc-m first. He would say he has earned no income in Canada but state if he's earned income out of Canada, and prove intent of returning once the application is complete.

As I understand it, they don't 'verify' income - there is no minimum income requirement to be a sponsor (though this may just be for spousal sponsorship, I'm not sure), all that an Option-C does is verify that the sponsor has not been on social assistance in the last whatever amount of time.

Other than that, the other poster is correct, everything goes to CPC-M and they confirm my eligibility to sponsor. I provided a letter from my current employer with my salary, proof of pay stubs, yada, yada, yada. I need to prove my 'intent' to return to Canada (I have conceptual difficulties with the idea of 'proving intent', but that is a different conversation) which I did with medical insurance quotes, surveys from the moving company, plane ticket reservations, a job offer letter and statutory declarations - whether it is good enough I'll guess we'll find out.

Realistically, my current job will be long long finished by the time we land in Canada and I will (hopefully!) be with a different employer; so any questions about 'intent to return' will be moot as by that time we will be in Canada - the wife on a TRV and unable to work, and me with my next employer.

I am worried though as I have gleaned from these threads that our case will not be as straightforward as it could be, and that 'intent to return' often trips people up.

So I sent in the application to sponsor my spouse.
Sent the package on March 14th, was received by them on March 17th.

Just a waiting game now.
We got married in January 2014, but have been in a long distance relationship for 2 years prior to that, and been close friends for 8 years before we started going out.

As proof, I've submitted over 100 photos of my spouse, myself, our functions, and us with each other's families with the details behind the pics of who is who. Sent around 70-80 pages of chat logs and emails, phone bills from each other, hotel bills of the functions, bills of our hotel's room rental for the couple of days that we stayed together when I was visiting her, photos of personalized gifts, airline tickets of my 2 visits there, boarding passes, stamps on my passport.
Not sure what else we could have sent to prove our relationship! Hope it should suffice.

I think I'll be quite active on these forums from now on. Looks like a great community.

Hi all,

Just wanted to say I got my AOR (Feb 24) - and that since Feb is a short month, you all will be coming up soon! Hang in there!

Question!

Hello!

Question! I was wondering does CIC send correspondence to your personal email or do you have to register on the CIC website? I am just curious to know where CIC sends the spousal sponsorship approval? I heard in some cases they just mail the decision and others email? Just a bit confused! ???

From what I have read in several of these forums, CIC corresponds with you if you had included your email address in your sponsorship application.

Hi atrivera. If the sponsor and applicant filled out an email address on the forms, they will email the sponsorship approval to you. If you did not fill out an email, they will sent it via mail. In some cases (seemingly random), even if you did fill out an email, you may still get a letter in the mail, and no email. No matter which you get, your ecas will say 'a letter has been sent to you, please consider delays in mail before contacting us..'. If you have received an email, then you can disregard that message.
You will soon find out what ecas is once you get a UCI number and File number with your sponsorship approval :)

Thanks for sharing NetKid!

Do you think the proof of our relationship that I have submitted is going to suffice? I know obviously you can't say anything with guarantee, but just as a general idea..?
I could not think of anything else to provide them to make my case stronger...
