ok, you are confused. yes, when you open ecas for your wife using the file number you will see 2 sets of information. 1 side is your application information, and the other side is her application information. That is because both the sponsor and the applicant SHARE the file number. remember there are 2 applicaitons, so the information in yours refers only to your application. the information on her side refers only to her application.

the date the applicant's application is "received" is the same date the sponsor's application was received. ECAS is saying CIC has received the applicant's application and her medical exam, not necessarily the visa office. This seems to be the standard format information is entered into the system for applicant applications. This isn't an AOR2

Only a few visa offices send an AOR2 and it confirms the visa office, not just cic, received the file for further processing. Ottawa doesn't send AOR2, so we have to *assume* the file gets there, and wait for Ottawa to contact us before any movement is made on ECAS. Our ECAS looks exactly as you describe until then. Whether your visa office *actually* has the file is unknown. To know HOW Singapore sends AOR2s you need to inquire in the singapore thread. i'm sure mikey can tell you how he received it.

Congrats!! Ottawa has really sped things up the last 6 months! Seems you have applied at the perfect time ;)

Don't forget to tell us landing date. No one has yet even though you are the 4th to have COPR. We need some yellows on the spreadsheet hahaha. ;D

Thanks everyone! I will tell you about my landing experience when I do..I'm looking over the forms to fill out now when I land ( the B4, ect.)..and I bought my ticket for august 19, 2014... :D

I'm curious though, the funny thing is that it says on the COPR, date issued July 14 and CIC says processing started on July 14...so did it only take one day to view the application? That's fast...

Hi all, I am Sim. We applied for my hubby's sponsorship and today got an email requesting his passport. We are confused about htis IMM 5688. Do we send it alongwith the passport or they send it later on with the visa. I am totally confused coz its not clear in the email. Could anyone help please?

This is a copy paste of what we received. the highlighted part in bold and italics is where we are confused.

CTD-Ottawa @ cic.gc.ca .

***You must now submit your passport(s) to CPC-O in order to finalize your application. Please include a copy of this letter with your submission.

1. Did your family composition change since our last correspondence?

· Have you married, or divorced or separated?

· Have you given birth or adopted a child?

· Do you intend to get married or divorced or separated prior to becoming a permanent resident?

· Do you intend to give birth or adopt a child prior to becoming a permanent resident?

· Has your sponsor withdrawn his or her sponsorship of your application?

· Have you been the subject of any criminal charges or convictions?

If any of these conditions apply, you must inform CPC-O immediately. Failure to declare any of the above changes could result in the cancellation of your permanent resident visa and the refusal of your application. Failure to declare a family member (spouse, common-law partner, or dependent child) will permanently exclude them from later sponsorship in the Family Class, according to paragraph 117(9)(d) of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Regulations.

If none of these conditions applies to you, you may proceed below.

2. Visa and Confirmation of Permanent Residence (IMM 5688) Validity

The issuance of your visa(s) cannot be delayed so it is important for you to submit your passport(s) as soon as possible. No other reminder will be sent. Failure to provide the required document(s) within 60 days from the date of this letter will lead us to conclude that you are no longer interested in immigrating to Canada and your application will be refused. Once the application is refused, you would be able to reapply, but you would be required to submit a new application and pay a new processing fee. Any new application would be assessed under the Act and Regulations in force at the time of its submission.

3. Passport requirements

You are required to submit your original passport and the original passport of any accompanying family member:

I am freaking out a bit, I checked ECAS today and had switched to decision made as of 18/07/14! If someone could please add that into the spreadsheet please.

I'm assuming I was approved for permanent residency, should I call CIC just to be sure ?

Thanks. :)

i don't think they will tell you anything over the phone. you will have to wait for the COPR. If they didn't request an interview, this is a good thing! congrats.
