Ordinarily I would say yes, but it's the VO that's supposed to have the expertise on wedding / engagement traditions in various countries, etc. All of our wedding and engagement ceremony photos were sent back as well. There was one large photo that holds special meaning to us, and it's a real photo that we don't have in digital or film format. That wasn't sent back. I hope they didn't throw it out. I'm assuming if they verified the relationship already that they threw out the chat and email logs and other printouts that we sent. Yet another inconsistent mystery with no communication or explanation. A simple one-sentence note in the box would have let us know the reason it wasn't forwarded to the VO. It would have saved us the months of wondering and worrying and self-doubt that we have coming up. I guess we just have to have faith that if it was sent back then it's not required. If we get a letter from the VO in the future asking for more proof or an interview, I'll blow a gasket.

I'd be tempted to put everything back in order, in an envelope, ready to courier back to the VO in case they request that info. You'd at least think they would have sent an explaination. It doesn't make any sense

It was all just thrown in a disorderly fashion in a box, all mixed together. Boarding tickets mixed with wedding cards mixed with photographs, etc.

I imagine they would have taken copies of these if you sent originals. They probably just wanted everything to be uniform when they sent it on to be processed, as opposed to it reaching the VO in the same way it reached you - all mixed together and out of order. Not saying that you sent it to them mixed up, just that they may have their own way or organizing or binding documents and they did not want to destroy your stuff with binding holes or leave it loose.

Hey Bluenoser,

Congratulations on the approval! that's excellent news.

it is a bit strange indeed, but one reason might be that they are transferring some files/information digitally. Maybe they scanned all the relationship proofs that you sent, and your VO will have the digital version. It saves them a bit of time. Maybe they re-organised the proofs in the order they wanted it, and thought it was safer to have digital versions of your proofs, rather than risking loosing them ( especially if they were loose - I don't know how you organised them). If that's the case, it was actually nice of them to return almost everything, in case it had special meaning for you.

Of course - it's pure speculation, but I hope your process goes smoothly, and you get approved in Step 2 very quickly!

Good luck, and enjoy the approval!

@ Bluenoser....

Did you say that they retured all the photos but were these photocopied or original...
I think they don't keep anything original I sent all the pictures, wedding card bills and everything photocopied....
You might want to photocopy everything and send it back to VO....

I received the following email from LA today:

Dear Applicant,

We are pleased to inform you that we have received your documents (personal pictures, completed Additional Family Information form, copy of visitor record, income tax information) and the original FBI police certificate. Upon receipt of your physical file, we shall enclose these documents and give your file to the Immigration Officer for review.

Thankful to know they received our documents we sent almost a month ago. The FBI was due to expire in 2 weeks! On our approval letter it said to send in any documents to LA so we did. I had sent a case inquiry previously to LA and they said to send any documents to Ottawa. Any news is good news....

It is awesome they emailed you to let you know! If only they would communicate more with everyone. It would make it so much less stressful!

Congrats to all those receiving great news today! Keep it coming CIC! We have faith for this week!

Hello,

I have a question, I just got the approval by email today....but when I try that Cliend ID it opens up my already complete citizenship application file? Approximately how long will it take them to update it?
Other question is anyone from VO New Delhi knows if how long it will take the package to reach New Delhi?

Thanks in advance...Good luck to all

Congrats to all who received their approvals and wishing other receive theirs very soon :)

For those of you that need to apply for CSQ (Quebec Selection Certificate) after the approval, it may be a good news that my CSQ application was received on June 12, and I got the CSQ letter dated June 21!!! Only 9 days. Well, although obtaining CSQ for spouse is not supposed to take long, but having an early update causes less depression for all of us :)

Good luck all

I received my sponsorship approval in the mail today. The strange thing, which I have never seen before in this forum at the sponsorship stage, is that they sent back almost all of our original proof as well. I think all of the photographs for sure. It was all just thrown in a disorderly fashion in a box, all mixed together. Boarding tickets mixed with wedding cards mixed with photographs, etc. We don't like the fact that the VO will not have the benefit of the full package of proof on which to base a decision, but oh well, I guess we'll just have to wait and see what happens. Anyway, before people start asking all of the standard questions, here is the information:

Approval came by snail mail (obviously), sent from the Ottawa office.
They received our application on March 16
The letter was dated June 21
No AOR was received
I can log in to ECAS using both of our client IDs, but not any other numbers. For my spouse I used the client ID from a previous TRV application.
My ECAS shows decision made and my spouse's shows application received.

well at least you got sponsorship approval with your app today, I got my whole app returned to me today due to missing documents.
