Hey guys, new to this forum, I hope I am posting this in the right thread! I'm planning on marrying a Filipino women, and looking Into the best and quickest way to bring her with me to Canada so we can start our new life. I am born Canadian and currently living in Canada, I've met my lady one an extended business trip.

Seems a lot of you guys are waiting more then a year for the Immigration papers to complete. I am wondering if it is possible for my wife (after we get married here in the philippines) to come live with me in Canada while we await for her paperwork to clear? On some sort of temporary visa I imagine perhaps?

Thank you

once you are married and apply for a PR visa for her they automatically deny her a tourist visa, on grounds she will not return to Philippines,,,lots of us tried that, wasted effort and money,,,,if you want her here while you wait its best to bring her b4 you apply for the PR,,,,,but that's not easy neither,,,unless she is rich and holds down an important job

I have to agree with Tagnum, my wife and I tried to get a visitor visa before we got married (she has family, previous travel, a job, money etc) to fulfill all the requirements and we were denied. This is not saying you will be denied if you do apply, but the likelihood is high.

The best way would be to get married and get all your paperwork done early. Make sure you have lots of proof that it is a genuine relationship (receipts, photos, air travel etc etc).

The timeline says 14 months but some are faster and so may not take as long. Some people seem to be done in 6 or 7 months.

Hope this helps

Thanks for your help guys! Do you recommend dealing with an immigration lawyer back in Canada to make sure all paper work is optimal to avoid potential delays?

What's your confidence level of your own "attention to detail"? So long as you can read clear instructions (following the Guide) when filling out forms with the occasional ambiguous question (but that's what this forum is for) then you don't need a lawyer nor an immigration consultant. Delays will occur if you miss a signature or something plainly required as laid out in the instructions. It's an expensive 'double-check' in my opinion. We did ours on our own AND submitted it even BEFORE we found this forum. I guess we had a solid case/application.

We did not have a immigration lawyer. I agree with truesmile that they are an expensive double check. Like truesmile said if you are able to handle the documents and follow instructions then you should not need a immigration lawyer. If you have any questions about the forms you can always ask here as i am sure someone here has had the same question. Just make sure you include the items they ask and double and triple check things.

There is a wealth of knowledge with the people on here.
