You're not supposed to need a form for the initial medical. They have their information wrong. If It was a re-medical you need a form but not for the first medical included in the application. He might as well include her now, it's the best thing to do - you do realize she could never enter Canada, without being included in your application. What if she wants to do a work/study visa when she's older? It just keeps all her doors open.
I said that the ex wouldn't let him take her in February when we applied. We wrote a letter saying it was understood that if she didn't have the medical at that time that he could not sponsor her in the future. Even though at that time the kid was still legally under her father's custody, she has been living with her mother for 6 years and lives 2 hours outside Seoul. The mother refused to let the kid do it.

The problem now is that he has gone back to Korea expressly to get the custody/medical issues settled. The custody issue is solved and he will get a new family register showing that he does not have legal custody.

The big problem is that the panel physicians are refusing to do his daughter's medical without the IMM 1017 form, which we don't have and which Immigration didn't send us when they sent the request for information letter about the medical.

He went to the doctor's office yesterday with his daughter and was turned away because of this form, even though everything I've read states that if he is getting an up front medical, then the form is not required.

So what the hell should we do now? I sent an email to Manila but their response states that I may receive an answer within 28 days. That's not much help.

No one PMs their updates so no changes in a while. No one seems to want to take it over either.

Yes there is also three set of forms 1&2 plus the Philippines specific forms. My wife and I where married in Alberta as well in 2011, she went back home a couple of months later, and did a name change as soon as she got there (she was excited to use her shiny new married name) and that added nearly a year of screwing around getting the name change, report of marriage done. So be forewarned about that, if your wife hasn't done so yet, maybe best to wait until she gets back here to do that part of it. But maybe someone else can chime in with their experiences as well on that front.

That's interesting. We pointedly had her change her name before submitting our application, and had no problem at all. Not so sure it mattered, but at the time we figured it could only help our case in the event of any slight doubt in the VO's mind. I asked my wife and she said it was all automatic, didn't have to advise NSO or anything like that, she just applied for a new passport with marriage certificate in hand, and we used her 'new name passport' for our application.

That is funny, my wife did the same thing as soon as she returned to the Phil's, and boom they held her passport (changing her name on her passport was th first thing she attempted to do once back home) while we got the paper work/screwed around with the consulate in Vancouver/she screwed around with whom ever on that side of the pacific. It turned into a 11 month (more or less) circle jerk. There was certainly nothing automatic about it, other than my frustration with the consulate.

Basically a year extra of waiting screwing around before we could even get to the point where we could file the paper work for immigration.

Huh! In that case it may not be worth the risk of a 'circle-jerk'. Never mind the name change, just get your app in the queue - hurry up and wait!

Yeah, and it could be just the luck of the Irish biting me in the ass again. If my wife ever thinks that, she will want me to convert to being polish or something :) perogies and banana sauce!

yep we did the name change thing to and realized it was the wrong thing to do,,,we finally sent our app with a photocopy of the older passport and with her having 2 different names,,,,this could of caused some problems too,,,,,,especially if your not in Cebu or manila because you need to take the seminar b4 you can get your passport,,,,,and don't forget the almighty AOM,,,,,,this piece of paper is not known to anyone in the phils unless they apply for a spousal visa,,,,you have to get your marriage licence to prove your married,,,and this to prove your marriage licence is real
