Actually, many corruption and extra money to pay for something like documents happens in Luzon especially seeing a foreign with the filipina.. We do have too here in negros but not much especially if the person raise and grow in the same place. Be always careful in many things ,always ask for receipt all the time .

Check the country specific guide... CEM will want the original printed on the NSO paper. unless that requirement has changed.

That is why its good to let your Filipino spouse handle important matters.

Not the same thing but similar while on one of my visits to my wife in Thailand, We were at a bus station a few people came up to us asked us where we were going. My wife decided to teach me a lesson... we followed the "helpers" to the bus, my wife had us stop in front of it. She told me to look at the sign where the bus is going and to look at the sign where the bus was pulled in. It was not the right place. They were trying to take advantage of the falang (foreigner) by sending him to the wrong place. Very common occurrence and lesson learned to not rely on the "helpers" ever and to let my wife be the lead.

Could that sort of issue happen in the Philippines as mentioned above?

When we were using private transportation my wife was the one that would negotiate the price as she also speaks a bit of Thai.

Yes Chris, most are just taking advantage to the foreigners due to that,Filipino on their minds think foreigners gives a lot and won't want to get back the change after you've paid.some also makes it much higher than the price you have to pay.many things..needs to be careful .im filipina but I am not in favor in such crazy things.

I totally agree on that....
When I am in Philippines I let my wife to handle everything,
She is very aware of all those situations and prefers to be the one
taking care of things.

Same here when I was in the Philippines my wife was the one who handle everything. It was my mother in law boyfriend who introduce us to the judge to perform our marriage certificate. It was her secretary that inform us that it would cost 4000 pesos to have our marriage certificate seal by NSO within one month. Today my wife is going to check with the secretary to see if it has been release since we pay back in March 1, 2015 its been over a month now. I want to send the application to CIC by next week.

Did your wife paid 4000 at nso or she paid 4000 pesos to the secretary?

Hello everyone! I need your help. ;)
I(to be sponsored) am currently working on my application for spousal sponsorship. I noticed a conflict between the country specific(Philippines) checklist/ Appendix A with the Document checklist (IMM5443).
They have different spousal questionnaires.
My question is, which checklist should i follow for my application? I am currently in the Philippines.
Do i need to include both?
Am i correct when i say that Appendix A is for spouses/partners living in canada and IMM5443 is for those within canada?
Any help is much appreciated. Smiley Smiley Smiley
