Its normal here as well to have the last name changed, However it takes time to change things in the Philippines and we did not have that time afforded to us as we had not only the NBI, NSO to deal with but also we had to get PCC from Thailand too. Waiting to have my wife's name changed before submitting the application would have put us back months.

Chris.
It's truely natural ,yup! Even our agency suggest us to change it so there will be no complications in Canada and my lastname is my husbands lastname..I think they maybe not changed it after years, and just tried to change it in Phil's ,which is yup ,it can cause complications after as she's been in canada for years and did not even change it right after she land in canada.

Yours is diff situation Chris..it can be change as you land though .

Thinking this and thinking that . . . Don't speak about what you don't know. It was only a few months after getting married and she certainly could not have "landed" yet as she was only preparing to apply for PR.

Really ? Are you sure with that? Then why does judge, the ones processing documents and our agency told me to do so?it might be another issue with that.try to look at Manila thread

Yes, I am sure and no, I don't need to look there (my wife also changed her name without difficulty). We're simply suggesting to the member who posted that there's a chance that they could be in for an 11 month run around. It may not be worth the risk in that case. He can decide based on our experiences here.

I was under the assumption that we actually had to wait until my wife receives her Canadian PR card first and then we can begin to change her name over.

Chris

Plus i read that married last name is now recommended through all documents ..well, that is not my issue, just I'm saying that how could be a prob when everything said even the ones working our documents to have it changed. It could be .who knows, everything can be possible to happen.

We decided to wait for her to be in Canada to change her last name for the sake of time. Already it is taking quite some time just to release a marriage certificate we aren't sure how long it would take for all of her documents to be changed.

Kyo9000 you can add your time line now to your profile. :D

Chris

We haven't sent out our application yet. We are waiting for our marriage certificate to come prior to applying. Were hoping to send out the application by April 11th, 2015.

Thanks Chris. Were hopping to officially send it in 2 weeks. Yesterday was so upset at Canada Revenue, two weeks ago I call to have them send me my option C. It was suppose to come yesterday but didn't when I called them, I found out they never send it even though they have on record that I requested it. So now I got to wait another 2 weeks for that form to come. >:(

Hi everyone,

I've been a big fan on this forum since I started the process to get my wife to Immigrate to Canada.

We submitted last august, October we got our paperwork from Mississauga and then sent our forms to the Quebec government to get her certificate.

Everything was approved. The Manila office mailed us asking to send my Wife Med check, NBI clearance and along with her passport. They asked us early February and this was sent to them and received (according to the mail company tracking number) March 4.

Now, I am armed with patience and I know these things can take some time, but I've seen people on this board get their Visa sometimes a month or two after the passport request, others 6 months. The website has yet to be updated with more then Medical information received.

Would you guys know how long it may take? Does the 16 months wait time start after the passport request, or is it when this was originally submitted in august? I've done this through a lawyer and he says that typically when the passport request is sent, the visa should be approved soon, but reading this forum I see that it varies a lot!!

Thank you

The rule of request of Passport to approve the case does not work for Manila,
they just ask for passports to have then ready,
In other Visa Offices they only ask Passport when they are ready to issue the visa.

Manila is working very slow lately, so, it is good idea to get ready for a long
wait, if you get it soon, then great...but you can expect your wife visa between
August (one year) to December (16 months).

Getting marriage certificate takes time,
and then registering the marriage on NSO also,
but once you have the advisory on marriage
getting the Passport is fast.

Do you have the advisory on marriage from NSO yet ?

In any case,
Just make sure that the name in the application matches the name
on her traveling document... Passport.

Yeah we payed 4000 peso to have our marriage register in NSO in one month. We pay on March 1st, but my wife told me that this week is holy week and civil office are closed from April 1st till April 5th. We are hopping it will be out by April 6th, then I waiting for my optional form C which for some reason Canada Revenue didn't send out when I made a request 2 weeks they actually apologize and now I got to wait another two weeks for that to come.
