How reliable the ECAS is? I saw a post from one of the members last 2011 with the following details :

Re: ALL SPOUSE APPEAL CASES COME HERE AND JOIN US PLZ« Reply #25 on: November 21, 2011, 10:50:55 pm »QuoteI never thought one day I would be part of this kind of group. We were SO SURE my husband and I to get visa.
March 31, 2011......... Application received at Rabat, Morocco
June 27, 2011........... Visa office phoned my husband to ask his wife (me) to pay for visa asap and was also told his chances were good to travel to Canada with me after my visit to him during summer
July 2011.................. Medicals received
Sept. 12, 2011........... Interview (40 minutes)Mid-
October 2011....... E-cas showed "In Process"
Nov. 4, 2011.............. E-cas showed "Decision made"
Nov. 14, 2011............ My husband received refusal letter stating our relationship is not genuine. The said letter does not give any reasons, arguments or facts. We doubt it is because of age difference (I am 20 years older)
Nov. 21, 2011............ Hired the services of an immigration consultant and notice of appeal was signed and sent today

Any thoughts on this?
your case will be completely different from this, aside from this discussion is from morocco VO.
in your case, they are giving you a chance to prove your marriage genuineness, and on my personal opinion, if ever they will deny you, they will ask for an interview first....
good luck

Thanks doljan that's uplifting :) i tried to be as optimistic as possible but sometimes it inevitable to feel a bit pessimistic knowing that CIC's inconsistency :'(

Hello steph C:)

Ur right it is contagious and it really makes me worried now:'( i was actually avoiding to read that thread too its like a purgatory full of terror. nways, yes we requested the GCMS notes already but my husband did not received it yet :( is it 30 business days?
Yeah, but I got mine in only 20 days. I just ordered some more because there was not much on them.
Doljan is right - they will for sure give you an interview before any denial. Right now they are letting you prove yourselves.. if it's not enough they will ask for an interview. By the time of a potential interview you will have your notes and you will see what the holes in your application are. Then you could bring the additional proof with you. It could just be one thing they're looking for that you didn't know to send.

Plus their VO was Morocco.. they have a high incident of denials. Look at their red flag - the woman was 20 years older then the man. Being from Morocco and the woman being older then the man is such a common reason for denials. Morocco and Cuba are the unlucky ones that I've noticed.

in my own opinion, they are the ones that pulling down everyones applications to longer processing times, there are lot of fraud marriages that came from that places....

How do you go about paying the $5, can you just include a money order with the application for GCMS

That's kind of funny since they can extend it by 6 months, but by the way they are handing out visas before people's medicals expire it's almost like it's a lot of trouble for them to do that.
Not to make you more worried, but the medical seems to be the last thing they will think about before issuing the visa.

Do you have the link? I just don't have any idea on this. Tks again.

Hey Sweet Potato,

Fill out this form and also make a payment of $5

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/department/atip/form-imm5563.asp

The sponsored person needs to print and sign this form, then scan and email it to the Sponsor in Canada.

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/department/atip/form-imm5744.asp

Include: the completed ATIP form, receipt of payment ,and consent form (total 3 documents) in an email to:

ATIP-AIPRP@cic.gc.ca

Instructions on how to fill out the ATIP form can be found in other threads if you search.. for example, I ordered GCMS notes for my spouse who is outland. I ticked "Access to Information Act", then on the 3rd question "Email"
4th Question "No.. Consent Included"

next section "I am a Canadian Citizen etc.." then "Public" no need to include proof if you have a Canadian address.

Section C make sure you tick "electronic files" so as not to delay your processing while they photocopy your actual file.

Online payment service is here:

https://eservices.cic.gc.ca/epay/welcome.do?lang=en

Select "Access to Information"

It's probably more efficient if just emailed.

There has been no changes on the May-Oct spreadsheet in 26 hours; I have never seen that happen before.

In a story in the Globe & Mail "Timothy Edwards, the foreign service workers union’s president, said members were instructed late Sunday to begin a work-to-rule campaign on Monday morning". :'(

Is this something we can ask our MP's to clarify?
