Making the PR Landing in the very end

I received my COPR with enter by Oct 2014. My question is if I land late in Sept'14 then the clock will start ticking late for meeting the residency obligation.

My question is the 5 yr window starts from the day you land so in that case its an advantage to delay landing lets say even by 9 months in case if someone is not ready to move to Canada right away.

Correct me if I am wrong.

That's OK until you discover that you are unable to travel in September 2014 for some reason, such as illness or injury. Then you are out of time and you have to start all over again.

You can land any time within the validity of your COPR even on the very last day. This is a risky strategy though because if anything interferes with your ability to get to the border before the expiry you can kiss your visa goodbye - watch out for airline strikes, bad weather closing airports, illness, car breakdown as you drive to the border etc. I'd rather land earlier and deal with the Residence Obligation as a separate issue since you have more control over that.
