Made Error - Name in application form different fromName on Passport

Hi there,

I need advice on a silly mistake I made while applying for my dad's visitor visa. The name I entered on the application form is different from what appears on passport. The name entered is the one showing on my birth certificate, I entered it naturally and assumed that the passport was the same, without even checking the scan he sent me.
I got passport request last Friday and I dont know what to do. I sent case specific webform enquiry online and an email to visa office and I am still waiting for response.
So I was wondering if anyone got the same issue if they can please share their story. I dont know whether I should reapply citing original application along with explanation letter or if this mistake can be corrected.

Did he submit the scan copy of the passport? If so it is fine.

If not then you can only send the passport and see what happens.

So you are saying that visa officer will issue visa based on passport info ONLY, right?. Please correct me if I got wrong. Also, we wrote explanation letter about mistake along with copies of my dad's other official IDs (drivers license+national ID Card) and sent it to visa office along with passport.

No. I do not "say" anything between lines.

If the scanned copy was included then CIC is aware of the discrepancy. If they didn't contact you it is because they didn't feel it was necessary.

Yes, he did. I sent them an explanation letter with mistake, they issued visa with correct names.
