FAQ

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/faq/immigrate/skilled/index.asp

Will CIC continue to process existing Federal Skilled Worker applications in the inventory?

Yes, CIC will continue processing eligible Federal Skilled Worker applications received to date.

the main purpose of this pause is to reduce backlog

Changes to federal skilled worker programs as of July 1, 2012
Why are you putting a temporary pause on Federal Skilled Worker applications?
CIC is implementing a temporary pause in order to draw down the FSWP inventory
visa offices have 9 months (1ST July 2012 to 31 March 2013) to process MI1,MI2 AND MI3, this is sufficient time to process this backlog. :)

Dear zeecee

You need to inform LVO immediately about the baby girl by email. They will give you instructions about what to do next. If they send your medical forms and not for your baby girl, then send an email immediately and inform them, they will take care of the rest.

About the DD, you will address it to "Receiver General for Canada" but will send it to LVO UK (not to CIO Canada)

Dear seniors

Pls clarify my doubt

• What are the medical tests we need to undergone?
• Is there any problem if the dependent is pregnant, we will Get any exemption in taking the x ray test? I need to inform the LVO now itself or once they issued the MR?

Is there any exemption for the babies (2years old) from medical test?

Pls advice

Normally they answer within 6 weeks. However, it has been observed that "re-london-im-enquiry@international.gc.ca" gets faster response. IMO, you should wait at least for 4 weeks before sending another query.

Hi Unni,
The medical tests you need to go through are:

Blood Test
Chest X-ray
Sight Test
Blood Pressure
Urine Sample
Basic Medical with the Doctor

Children do not have to do all, it is age range dependant.

Pregnancy - the Doctor will advise you but you will probably do all except the X-ray but they will advise you.

Hope this helps
Stuart

Designated Medical Practitioner (DMP), checks the applicants' Blood Pressure, Eyesight, weight, height, hearing, oral health, and will ask about any major surgery history.
The DMP will then send the applicant to Lab for blood and urine samples for certain tests. A chest X-ray of every person is also taken.
Blood and Urine samples are checked for communicable diseases. Similarly, X-rays are checked to rule out any TB disease.
There is no x-ray exemption for pregnant applicants. They have two options:

1) The X-ray technician will provide an abdominal shield
2) On the option of the applicant, the X-ray will be deferred till delivery

Medical results will not be finalized until X-ray is provided.

Infants are not exempt from medical examination although they are exempt from certain parts of it.

For example:

"A routine (PA) chest x-ray is required for all applicants aged 11 years or older. A chest x-ray is also required for children under 11 years of age if they have a personal history of tuberculosis, a history of close contact with a case of active tuberculosis, or are HIV-positive."

"A urinanalysis is required of all applicants five years of age and older. Female applicants should not be menstruating.

"Syphilis serology is required of all applicants 15 years and older.

"HIV testing is required for applicants 15 years of age and older, children who have received blood or blood products, or have a known HIV-positive mother, or where a risk factor is identified"

Comments of Qorax:

"There are no medical tests required for infants. Here's the extract from the letter that we receive for meds:

INSTRUCTIONS FOR ARRANGING MEDICAL EXAMINATIONS

Refer 'clause-7'

The Designated Medical Practitioner will arrange for the following tests:
- Large PA chest X-ray together with a radiologist's report for any person 11 yrs of age or older.
- Blood test (VDRL or similar test) for all applicants 5 yrs of age or older.
- A Urinalysis (sugar, protein, blood) for all applicants 5 yrs of age or older.
- HIV test for any person 15 yrs of age or older, children who have received blood or blood products, or have a known HIV mother, and all potential adoptees.

A question, if we are given 90 days to submit medicals and RFRP, does this mean that our file will be worked upon only after those ninety days are up????? Even if we send the required meds. and RFRP much before that??
