Lost work permit - Can I travel out of Canada and return back?

Hello all,

I currently work in Canada.
For some reason, I have lost my workpermit issued. I am going to apply for duplicate copy along with police certificate.
While my duplicate work permit is in processing, can I leave Canada and return back?
On re-entry, will they ask for WorkPermit or just a valid visa is fine?
Workpermit that was issued is valid till 2014.

Please help.

A valid visa should be sufficient. Further, a BSO will be able to see you have a work permit (it's 2012- they can find that sort of thing in the computer if they doubt your story) so while you might get sent to secondary inspection, you'll be fine.

Wait until you get a duplicate copy, because every time I crossed the boarder custom's officer asked me to show my OWP.
