hi

am a bit confused here. since we're suppose to have our spouse complete the police clearance prior to submtting the application, i was wondering what the actual process was for the visa office to take note of it. my hubby did his clearance on jan 5th but i haven't actually submitted the application and won't be able to for another 2 weeks. i would imagine that by the time the application is received at the visa office, the 3 month expiry that's noted on his certificate would have expired (though the mississauga office would have already received my application)

does the visa office consider the day it was submitted or does it go by the date they processed it? i'm confused here. not even sure if the way i'm explaining this makes sense. i'm such a mess, lol. this whole thing has been stressful... :-[ ??? :-\

The police clearance should be submitted with the application. It is my understanding that it is good for one year. I believe that they go by the date it was processed by the applicable police department. You don't make mention of what kind of application this is - inland, outland, etc. That would be helpful in answering your questions.

I believe the general rule is that the certificates should have been obtained not more than 3 months prior to the application being received by CPC-M.

You are right. The police clearance can't be more than 3 months old by the time it is received at CPC Mississauga (outland) or CPC Vegreville (inland).

Would a certificate more than 3 months old result in your application being returned? or would they just request an up-to-date one?

Jayde - if the certificate is expired when received a new one will be requested. But better to apply for the new one already and make a note in the application that a new certificate has been requested. If the certidicate is really old then just order a new one, leave the old one out and make a note saying police clearance cert is pending.

thank you guys

guess that means i'll be safe **pheww**
