hi Guys,

I lodged my pr spousal application (inland) back in February 2018. We received an acknowledgement on 23rd February 2018, with a further status to inform us that they started processing of the application on March 20th 2018.

I received my open work permit on June 11 and received a request to provide medicals and a background criminal check on 23rd August. Both were forwarded on 13th September 2018. I have not had any further update on my application since... until 17th December 2018, when we received an email from immigration to tell us that we had not provided enough proof we were cohabiting, and had 30 days to supply additional information.

We sent in further evidence to support our application, within 48hrs. The next day, 18th December, my wife (the sponsor) got an email to tell her that she has been approved as a sponsor.

My status on my application then changed to “we started processing your application on 17th December 2018”.

This greatly concerns us, as it would appear they have only just begun to process our application? Does this sound right? Initially, it stated that they started processing it on 20th March 2018.

I have written to IRCC using the web form and all I receive back are cut and paste responses from the front line staff, with little to no relevance to my question.

Can anyone offer any advice or opinions on what might be the situation here? Does it seem likely they have only just begun processing of our application, after ten months? Or perhaps the officer has put us to the back of the queue after suggesting we didn’t supply enough evidence to prove cohabitation. Though, we did provide the requested evidence within 48hrs of that email.

Any advice or help would be much appreciated.

Thanks for your response.

Can I request notes whilst my application is still in the processing stage?

I thought that notes could only be requested if an application was rejected for any reason?

You can order GCMS notes at any time throughout the process.
