I am a US citizen. I intend to immigrate from the US to Canada, and I presently still live in the US. My case is somewhat complicated, and I am not certain which path to permanent residency is most appropriate. I would like to seek counsel from a lawyer.

My question is this: Should I seek a US-based lawyer who specializes in Canadian immigration? Or should I seek a Canada-based lawyer who specializes in US immigration?

I would go with a Canadian-based lawyer. The lawyer doesn't need to specialize in US immigration. The process of immigrating to Canada is the same regardless where you're from.
