Tim Hortons (in Canada) wants to higher me (an American). Im going into an interview today and one of the question she asked was if I was applying for an LMO or and Open work Lower class visa. I Know that in some cases you don't always need a LMO. She had mentioned that Americans normally don't need a LMO but I just wanted it cleared up before I went in for my interview today at noon.
Do I need a LMO?
Why do you need a LMO?
Who qualifies to work under the open work lower class visa?
Thank You for all your help! Any answers will help!

Do you already have an open work permit? Or does the job you are applying for fall under NAFTA?

If the answer to both of these questions is no - they need to obtain an LMO to hire you.

i don't have an open work permit, and I'm not sure if Tim Hortons falls under the NAFTA. How can I find out if they do? I they do, do I not need a LMO?

It's not Tim Hortons that would need to fall under NAFTA. It's the actual job you're applying for (level, title, responsibilities). The list is here (FYI - pretty unlikely your job is listed):
