My employer says that have applied for lmia on 24th April and yet it's not approved on September 26th they updated me saying your application has been reviewed and once the names added to it you can apply for work permit and next update I received was on 30th October saying that they have received email requests for applications of cook
Can anyone help me out does approval of lmia takes so many months it's more than six months now

1. Yes, it can take quite some time for an LMIA to be approved.

2. Are you sure it's a genuine offer? Did you pay for the LMIA?

I see from your post history your job is with the Fairmont Whistler.

In most cases, hotel LMIAs are scams. You said you applied through a consultant, how much did the consultant charge you?

Yes it's for Fairmont whistler and have not paid anything for lmia

Strangely, the Fairmont person and the consultancy seem to be real. You have paid a lot for consultancy services - you've essentially "bought" an LMIA, which should be illegal but in your case isn't, since you've paid a consultant. That's a shame, and Ann Arbour consultancy should be ashamed of itself.

I would still be concerned you've been scammed. You can find Jessica's email address here: http://www.alljobs.ca/job/third-cook/282956 Email her and ask her the status of the LMIA.

Six months isn't unheard of for an LMIA.

Summary of Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Executive Pastry Chef, responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:
  • Consistently offer professional, friendly and proactive guest service while supporting fellow Colleagues
  • Ensure daily checks of all mis en place to ensure freshness and quality standards
  • Prepare daily production of breads, rolls, muffins and other baked goods according to standard recipes
  • Inspect product for quality and consistency during and after baking
  • Review production schedules to determine variety and quantity of goods to bake
  • Monitor inventory of supplies and order stock based on daily and weekly requirements
  • Complete production sheets needed for the daily operation
  • Ensure the cleanliness and maintenance of all work areas, utensils, and equipment
  • Maintain consistency for all items leaving the Bake Shop
  • Follow Kitchen policies, procedures and service standards
  • Follow all safety and sanitation policies when handling food and beverage
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in Pastry and Bakery required
  • Abiltiy and desire to work the overnight shift
  • DiplomaCertification in a Culinary discipline preferred
  • Strong interpersonal and problem solving abilities
  • Highly responsible & reliable
  • Ability to work well under pressure in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to work cohesively as part of a team
  • Ability to focus attention on guest needs, remaining calm and courteous at all times
Physical Aspects of Position (include but are not limited to):
  • Constant standing and walking throughout shift
  • Frequent lifting and carrying up to 30 lbs
  • Occasional kneeling, pushing, pulling
  • Occasional ascending or descending ladders, stairs and ramps
