I am already in Canada (Quebec) on an open work permit. My employer wants to offer me a new contract on a closed work permit. They are about to send in the Global Talent Stream (cat. B) application to both ESDC and MIFI, along with the other forms and documentation, and hope to get a LMIA for me through that. I am applying now for the new work permit. In a few weeks, I'll move to maintained status.
My question is - on the GTS form, as well as some of the forms that MIFI need, and the copy of the contract, my contract start date is for the day my current open work permit ends. I can continue to work for them on the terms of maintained status. Will it be a problem that my start date (on forms and contract) will be before the LMIA is (hopefully) issued and my work permit is then (hopefully) issued?
