First of all congrats for your PNP approval.

here is the answers to your questions:

1. Yes, your work permit is under LMIA exempt category.
2. It will be "work permit with the same employer".

When is your current work permit expiring?

You may already know that you will get a close work permit unless you have applied for PR application and received AOR.
Hi pretty_girl

First of all thanks for your reply =)

My work permit will expire next month on March 18 and I am fine with the fact that I will be getting a close work permit once that I am not planning to leave the company I am working on.

My question is regarding to where I should post my application once that there are two different addresses based of what type of permit are you applying for, being:

****Extensions including: (work permit extension, open work permit extension)

Citizenship and Immigration - Work Permit
CPC-Vegreville
6212 - 55th Avenue, Unit 202
Vegreville, AB
T9C 1X6

and

****Work permits for new employers including: (work permit, initial open work permit)

Citizenship and Immigration - Work Permit
CPC-Vegreville
6212 - 55th Avenue, Unit 555
Vegreville, AB
T9C 1X6

but the support letter I got from the province is addressed to the Unit 555 on the header.

So if the letter is addressed to the Unit 555 and I am applying using the option "Same Employer" which I should post to the address unit Unit 202 will that be a conflict ?

Both offices are at the same building but they are on different units.

What you think?

Thanks Again!

Check this link out. According to this Unit 555 is for new work permits only.

I suggest you to call MPNP office and confirm with them too.

my support letter was also addressed to Unit 555 but I applied online so it did not matter to me.

Hi pretty_girl,

Have you applied for a work permit with the same employer or work permit with a new employer?

Thanks

hello @pretty_girl

I'm learning a lot from your replies to other people
I have a question

I am a Caregiver under aN LMIA exempt contract.
My WP expires on June 15,2016
I lack 6 weeks to the 24 months requirement to apply for OWP/PR
I know I have to extend my contract at least 30days before it expires
They say it takes almost 3 months to get the extension

Can a person apply for OWP/ PR once she finished the 24 months? Even on Implied status and waiting for WP extension?
My 24 months is in Agust 2016.

Thank you so much

Yes someone can apply for PR even if he/she is on Implied status. As long as you have a valid status..there wont be any issue
(FYI: Implied status becomes invalid if a person goes outside of Canada/cross border during the implied status period)

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?qnum=474&top=4

I also applied for my PR when I was under Implied status and got my work permit approved later in September.

Hi @pretty_girl

A valid status means? That my Trv is valid? Or that I stay in my employer under same condition on implied status?
Thank you so much for the reply!
How long did you have to wait before the OWP was approved?
That's such a relief ,

My WP expires in June 2016
And I lack 6 weeks on the 24 months requirements.
My 24 months is in august 1.

Thanks you , more power to you

Valid status :

For visitor - visitor visa/TRV
For worker - work permit

You are here a foreign worker so in order to work or stay in Canada you need valid work permit.

If you apply for a new work permit before your current one expires then you can continue working under the same conditions as per your current work permit until you get your new work permit.
Check attached link below about staying in Canada while work permit is in progress:

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?qnum=188&top=17

I applied for employer specific work permit (closed WP) on May 14th 2015 and got it approved in last week of September 2015.

Hope it answers your questions :)

@pretty_girl : thank you so much!
Congratulations to you for getting your OWP,
Is it true that the PR comes later?

Yes I will apply once I completed my 24 months after AUgust 01 while on implied status.
Thanks for clarifying things for me
Great help!

Great help!

PR processing time is different than work permit and it also depends on the visa officer, processing office and type of application.

Work permit p/t is around 4 months.
PR is different for different categories.

Hello Pretty_girl

First of all thank you on everyone's behalf for answering all our questions.

I received my AINP in "C" category on March 2nd 2016 and my 3 years open work permit expired on March 11th 2016 and I applied for implied status before the expiration.
I found a way better job in category "B" and my new employer was really nice and he paid $230 fee as well. I applied for closed work permit with new employer using the AINP certificate that I received in category "C" cause I didn't want to be stuck there for next couple of years. I also sent a explanation letter to CIC along with my new closed wp application that why I changed the job?

I'm little worried about it. Would you mind clearing the confusion for me please?

It's always a pleasure to help someone (if I can in some way).

Now, I need to clear few things first :

1. Was/Is your AINP certificate says restricted employment? Did you inform your PNP office about your new job?
2. When did you apply for your second work permit? Was it before your open work permit expired?

I think yes cause they gave me a support letter aswell. I applied in the employer driven category.
When I emailed my AINP officer if AINP is going to support my new job or not? She said yes the first time and then I asked her what are the further steps to renew my wp?
She said your new employer will have to obtain LMIA! She was contradicting her first statement.

I applied under the implied status with an explanation letter that why I changed my employer!

Hope everything will be okay.

Ok.

So which employer's name is on your AINP certificate? New one ?

Did AINP include any employer's name on support letter?

CIC might take more time than usual to process your application since it's WP restoration application but hope for the best. You can contact your PNP office and ask them if they can help you out in any way or change your PNP certificate if it has your previous employer's name on it.

Good Luck
