Hello,

I'm renewing my PR while living in the US with my Canadian partner for the last 10 years. For the most part we only go back to Canada for holidays with the family.

Should I record each one of those in and outs or can I just say I was living in the US with my Canadian partner for the last 5 years?

or say, if I went to another country from the US while I was living here, do I need to report that country too? Like I spent 6 months outside of Canada living with my partner and we went to Mexico for two weeks, do I include that in the travel dates to mexico or is that included in my time away living in the states?

Thank you.

Keep detailed records of all entry/exit from Canada. That is the key information for PR renewal and Citizenship application.

Other travel while already outside Canada, it is not essential. But if you want to apply for NEXUS, it can be useful to have those dates too.

Just to add that assume you know you will need to provide a Canadian address to renew your PR card as cannot be renewed from outside of the country .So will need to have your family in Canada courier your card to you in the US.

Also and again assume you know only physical presence in Canada counts towards a citizenship application if that is part of any future plan.
