Dear all,

We have a family business outside of Canada, and I am a manager at the company. All our work is done electronically, which means I can work and live wherever I want to.

In light of this, is it possible to live in Canada and even apply for PR while working for myself?

Thank you.

You cannot live in Canada without proper authorization. Having PR would certainly allow you to live in Canada. A work permit would as well. However to get a work permit, you would need to secure a full time job offer with an employer in Canada and that employer would need to obtain an approved LMIA. Wanting to run your business remotely while living in Canada is not grounds for obtaining a permit that will allow you to live here. So obtaining PR would be the most logical path for you. Once you have PR, you can then move to Canada and live here.
