Hi everyone,
Can you guys share what you do to survive this stressful process and being away from your loved one. A lot of questions go through my mind and I am sure through many of your minds as well such as
  1. What if my wife/husband case takes longer than 12 months? Maybe two or three years etc
  2. What if my wife/husband application get rejected?
  3. What if my file is sitting somwhere collecting dust?
  4. What if my wife/husband gets PR but I don't have vacation time from work to go and bring him/her here?
  5. What if the ticket is too expensive and I cannot afford it?
Please share your question and your strategies in dealing with these question. Hopefully we could make a document for everyone benefit. Thanks for your input.

Have you tried applying for a visitor visa for your spouse?

It's a stressful process for sure, but one that can be sped up if you submit a strong application and minimize the red flags you might have.

No. I haven't applied for a visitor visa because my wife is in her last year of University. She is graduating next month. I will be visiting her in november. I applied last november hoping everthing would be done by this november. The police certificate took me three months to get as CIC sent me a link to get one from local police station. When I got that they did not accept it. They told me to get it from consulate of Afghanistan but my wife lives inside Afghanistan and there is no consulate inside Afghanistan. Then I asked around here and I applied to the Afghan Embassy in Canada. After months of lying to me and running out of excuses they sent me her police certificate. Of course I had to upload an explaination letter in gckey becuase I did not get it on time. I sent it through webform almost a month ago. They sent me an email 2 weeks ago saying they recieved it and will send it to the visa office. I am not sure where my visa office will be because I am still waiting for AOR2. Should I apply for a visitor visa? Will she get by november? If so she can come with me. If her case is finalized does she have to go back to Afghanistan and to the visa office to get PR or can she get it in Canada?
