Hi Everyone!
I just received my PR visa and I'm trying to collate all the things that I need to do while I'm still here in the US. My situation is that I'm currently on L1 visa here in US and I'm planning to "initially" land in Canada this July 2011 (driving from US). However, I will not be bringing anything with me upon landing (well, of course just a few $ bucks and my needed documents for landing). And then, I'll be staying in a hotel for 3 days, do some bit of strolling and researching in Canada (e.g. open bank accounts, apply for SIN, etc.)... and go back to US after 3 days (I'm considering to just have my PR card mailed to my friend). I only plan to "finally settle" in 2014 with all my clothes, furnitures, appliances and other stuff. So my question is,

(1) What items should I include in my list of goods when I initially land in 2011? What if I don't provide this for the meantime since I'm not yet fully settling? Is it allowed?

There will be a 3-year gap between my initial landing (2011) and my final settlement (2014). Over the course of time, I'm sure that I'll be accumulating more stuff that I could bring to Canada in 2014.
(2) Will I be taxed for those when I finally settle in 2014 and they were not included in my list of goods in 2011? Thanks in advance to those who can answer my question.

I'm not sure.. but as much as I know, "Good to follow" is NOT only for those who are coming to Canada for the first time (e.ge the first land)...

Read here: http://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/publications/pub/bsf5087-eng.html

a resident of Canada who is returning to resume residence after an absence of at least one year; or

Here is a useful thread discussing what you're looking for: http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/landing-time-limit-on-goods-to-follow-t40466.0.html

Another thread here (also including a good template for the B4 form you'll need):
http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/goods-landing-with-and-following-later-form-b4-and-b4a-t49776.0.html

Good luck,

Mary
