Hello all,

I am alibrarian and would like to work as a rederence librarian in any library or information center. Which qualifications are preferred for this position in Canada?
If you have any kind of information, please tell me?

Thank you

That's not the kind of position that has a formal set of qualifications. It has more to do with local knowledge and experience.

Here are the requirements for a Librarian http://www23.hrdc-drhc.gc.ca/2001/e/groups/5111.shtml
You should check www.cic.gc.ca to see if you qualify as a skilled worker.

Wow, I can't believe there's an actual NOC code for that.

Look deep enough, and there is a NOC code for every job. For example search for farmer and see the various descriptions.

of course, local knowledge is very important for every kind of job, but being a librarian is a serious thing like being a manager and if you want to be a librarian, you have to graduate from university in master degree. actually mostly master degree is not enough for being a manager or a specialist...
i hope you would break your prejudice...

I know that a reference librarian pretty much requires a Masters. I have a family member who was a reference librarian for 8 years. I just didn't know it was a specific field of study.

I am not prejudiced.
