Hi ,
This is regarding submission of letter of reference for FSW
Is there any alternative to Letter of reference ?
I have worked with total 3 employers (1 current and 2 past)
both of my past employers have denied to provide letter of reference.

Can I get an affidavit done which states my roles and responsibilities ?
If my past roles and responsibilities do not match with NOC I am applying to(in mycase 2174), will they discard my application or just the stated period of experience?

Please anybody who has submitted application without letter of reference and got PER, please guide me.

I assume you know the cap has been reached for NOC 2174 and CIC is no longer accepting applications unless you have a job offer in Canada?

Hello Member,

I'm afraid you can't submit an application without a current and relevant reference letter and possibly your contract of employment letter. without these, CIO if you are lucky might process your application but it might be considered as incomplete. If it passes that stage, your Visa Office will definitely ask you to furnish them.

It might be worth mentioning that CAP for the NOC you are interested in has been reached.

Yes I am very well aware that cap has reached for this year,

However I want to keep my documents ready for next year(in case the category 2174 is still there).

I do have letter of appointement from all my employers, the only reason I wanted to know is my past experience do not match with NOC 2174 but my current experience does match with the NOC.

If I submit letter of reference from my current employer(4 years, releavent to NOC 2174) and submit appointment letters from past employers(1.5 yrs not relevant to NOC 2174), will that be okay ? I mean the requirement is is to have minimum 1 yrs experience in past 10 years and in my case I have 4 yrs.

Do we specifically need to submit letter of reference for all the past employers irrespective if our job roles and responsiblities match with NOC ?

Based on my previous communications with my Lawyer, I can say...

It's good that you have Ref. letter for the NOC you are planning to apply and it is your recent job with more then 1 yr. Ensure that it is printed on company letterhead and signed by your Supervisor or HR manager who can confirm our duties and job related details.

For the ref. letters from Previous employer's I feel you should give a try to get it signed from old employer's as far as possible.
If not, you can write a hand written letter to CIC with your application , explaining why you can not get the ref. letter from employers.
But attach your joining & relieving letter with the exact dates you are claiming exp. for. also attach all your pay stubs, Salary certificates, Experience certificates and any communications you have received from your employers.

This will certainly give some guidance to CIC officers when they assess your work experience.

Chances will reduce when you do this and CIC may ask you to submit ref. letter after assessing your documents if they do not get convinced.

Remember , This is all what we can do , but nothing is better then a ref. letter with following
duties matching with NOC definition, Full time job confirmation, salary details, designation, joining & relieving dates & your name with role.

Yes, you have to prove your total work experience to get points. It does not have to match your primary NOC though (i.e. 2174).
Also, if you really can't get hold of some docs required, you can try to substitute them with some other docs and explain this in the cover letter. Take a look at the note at the beginning of the document checklist form: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/forms/IMM5612E.pdf
