Hello,

I have been waiting for sowp since may 2020, and since there is no moving forward with my application, I have decided to lodge a trv based on my common-law spouse work permit. When going through questionnaire, I selected "purpose of visit" as "visiting friends/family" and the option that I will be accompanyied by my spouse who is a temp resident.

At the document checklist I have "Letter of Invitaion" but I don't know who should write it because my spouse is currently not present in Canada. I can ask my friend who is a temp resident, or another one who just got a PR to do it unless my spouse can write a letter of explanation including that we have a rented apartment in both our names and that I have studied in Canada for 4 years.

I know travel restrictions are about to be lifted so I am hoping I can come back to Canada with my spouse asap. Can anyone advise?

If your spouse is not in Canada he can’t invite you. Your friend should not invite you if you want to live with your spouse. Your SOWP application will be visible. A spouse would only be visiting on a TRV so renting an apartment in both your names would be viewed negatively.
