Because me and my husband, while both residing in the same place, have, in our identity cards, different addresses (bureaucratic reasons), the VO wants us to provide proof of cohabitation. Besides telephone bills and bank statements sent to both of us to the address, we want to send in a letter from the owner of the apartment stating that we are indeed both residing there. How should that letter be phrased?

We thought of something like this:

To whom it may concern

I, the undersigned, owner of the apartment located at:

........

hereby certify that APPLICANT'S NAME is residing at the address mentioned above since June 2008. I also certify that SPONSOR'S NAME is residing at the same address since november 2011.

Sincerely,
(signature)
OWNER'S NAME

Name:
ID card:
Address:
Phone:
E-mail:

Would this be enough?

Should be fine. Our landlord wrote about the same

Thank you so much. Meanwhile I thought it would be best if something like this was added: "I have observed them living together in a genuine and happy romantic relationship since SPONSOR'S NAME moved in, and know them to be very trustworthy."

I don't know if it matters, seeing that we are married, but I think it will not hurt either :D

CIC has asked for proof of cohabitation. So I don't think this statement adds value and seems a bit contrived. If you want to add anything, I would add something along the following lines: "To the best of my knowledge both APPLICANT'S NAME and SPONSOR'S NAME are using ADDRESS as their primary residence."

scylla, you are absolutely right :)

It seemed so short that I felt the need to add something. And I'm not that good with all the formal stuff :D

Thank you so much!
